CHARLOTTE AMALIE St Thomas, USVI- — The [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) on Tuesday January 24, 2017 revealed that it was investigating a first-degree rape incident that the force says occurred Tuesday at about 5:25 A.M. in Estate Frydenhoj, St Thomas, US Virgin Islands (USVI).

According to VIPD Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman, the female victim explained that as she was leaving her residence to go to work, an unknown black male ran up to her and pointed a gun to her head. She further explained that he forced her to walk away from her residence and sexually assaulted her, Ms Freeman said.

There were no suspects in custody on Tuesday, Ms Freeman said.
