ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- President of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the world governing body for football, Giovanni V. Infantino, will make an inaugural visit to the Virgin Islands today, August 11, 2019, as part of his three-day tour of the Caribbean region.
Mr Infantino is scheduled to arrive in the Virgin Islands, via the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport on Beef Island, around 12noon.
His itinerary includes a visit to the East End/Long Look Stadium after which he will meet with Executive Members of the BVI Football Association (BVIFA) at the Village Cay Marina Conference Room
He is also scheduled to meet Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and other Government officials before engaging in a press conference.
Mr Infantini, 49, was elected President of FIFA during the 2016 FIFA Extraordinary Congress on February 26, 2016. He was re-elected as FIFA President on June 5, 2019.
The FIFA president kick started his 3-day tour of the Caribbean with visits to Cayman Islands and Curacao on Friday, August 9, 2019.
Yesterday, August 10, 2019, Mr Infantani visited St Vincent and the Grenadines.
