Fast Pitch Softball underway

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The 2015 Fast Pitch Softball League began on Friday June 26, 2015 with three female and five male teams taking part and all competing for the season ending Championship series.

In the first round of matches the Pythons defeated Hawks 9-8.

The Pythons had 9 runs, 10 hits, 6 errors and left 7 runners on base. Hawks had 8 runs, 5 hits, 9 errors and left 11 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Thea Cooke and the loser was Perline Leonard.

Darier Malone of Pythons went 2-4 with 2 runs scored and a run batted in and Jelisa Potter went 4-4 with a triple, 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in.

The Pirates defeated Power Outage 9-7.

Pirates had 9 runs, 10 hits, 5 errors and left 10 runners on base. Power Outage had 7 runs, 6 hits, 5 errors and left 8 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Allen Smith and the loser was Dariel Robinson.

Tramore Frazer of Pirates went 2-3 with a run scored and Devon Bedford went 2-4 with 2 runs scored. Sheldon John of Power Outage went 2-4 with a run scored and Jeremy Penn went 2-3 with a double, and 2 runs scored.

Pythons defeated West End Warriors 16-6.

Pythons had 16 runs, 10 hits, 4 errors and left 6 runners on base. West End Warriors had 6 runs, 2 hits, 8 errors and left 8 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Thea Cooke and the loser was Sarah Potter.

Tyalia Henley of Pythons went 2-3 with a triple, 3 runs scored and 2 runs batted in and Thea Cooke went 2-2 with a run scored and a run batted in.

Republica Dominicana defeated Reds 7-2.

Republica Dominicana had 7 runs, 12 hits, 1 error and left 7 runners on base. Reds had 2 runs, 5 hits, 5 errors and left 7 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Yervis Rodriguez and the loser was Denzil Daniel.

Eddy Morales of Republica Dominicana went 3-4 with a run scored and 2 runs batted in and Miguel Hernandez went 1-2 with a run scored and 2 runs batted in.

Power Outage defeated the Andrew A. Fahie coached and co-sponsored Mobsters 8-4.

Power Outage had 8 runs, 8 hits, 1 error and left 7 runners on base. Mobsters had 4 runs, 6 hits, 6 errors and left 10 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Joseph Smith and the loser was Jason Fonseca.

Jeremy Penn of Power Outage went 2-3 with a triple, a home run, 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in and Richard Jack of Mobsters went 2-4 with a run scored and a run batted in.

Pirates defeated  Republica Dominicana 8-6.

Pirates had 8 runs, 6 hits, 2 errors and left 4 runners on base. Republica Dominicana had 6 runs, 8 hits, 6 errors and left 5 runners on base. The winning pitcher was Allen Smith and the Loser was Yervis Rodriguez.

Kye Rymer of Pirates went 2-2 with 2 runs scored and Nelson Ramirez went 2-3. Eddy Morales of Republica Dominicana went 3-4 with a double, a triple, 2 runs scored and 2 runs batted in.

Action continues this week and right through to the end of July, when the best of five Championship deciders are scheduled to play.

    I wish the league well. Go Mobsters. Fahie they can't keep a good man down. Mad get it together because I am backing you guys. You guys look good for a new team & would have won if it wasn't for those costly errors.

    Umpires didn't get paid for last year, but it is good to see that they are all there calling balls and strikes as usual
