EAST END, Tortola, VI - Our news desk can confirm—after investigations—that the attempted robbery that took place last Saturday, August 4, 2018, in the area of 'Chalwell Yard' on the eastern end of Tortola, had ‘family connection.’

Police on the night of the incident, apprehended two men Nyall G. George, of Old Plantation, Tortola and Daren Fahie.

Both men had been beaten by persons, ‘trying to prevent the robbery,’ after which they ended up in hospital.

Abduction

Mr George was on Thursday August 6, 2018, charged with the unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, obliterating or defacing the identifying marks on a firearm and attempted abduction with intent.

Additionally, the sister of the family involved in the attempted robbery, Ms Alanah Chalwell, of East End, was also charged with the same offences as Mr George.

She is said to have been the mastermind behind the 'botched robbery' last Saturday, near the Chalwell Marina, in East End.

The third man, Daren Fahie—a Government employee—remains in hospital with a broken leg and did not make a court appearance.

A tale of men with guns

Police spokeswoman Diane L. Drayton, has since, updated the public on two other separate gun incidents, not connected to  the botched ‘Chalwell Yard’ robbery.

Thirty nine year-old, Dion Thomas, of Hannah’s Estate, Tortola, was also charged with carrying a firearm without a license and two counts of unlawful possession of ammunition.

This, after a Police ‘stop and search’ of his person uncovered a loaded pistol on August Monday—a story firstly and accurately reported by Virgin Islands News Online.

Police have also charged 22 year-old, Jamori Hart, of Parham Town with keeping an unlicensed firearm, in a separate incident.

All of the persons including Ms Chalwell, Thomas, Hart and George are now at Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP), Balsum Ghut, Tortola.

Reading and understanding should not be so hard
The news said the other gun related arrests were unrelated.

I don’t see any proof that the two other men found with guns were involved. Just because they were found with guns doesn’t mean that they are linked to this story.

Say it’s not so. Not the sister, this is messed up. What was her reason or motive to be the mastermind of such action against your own family?

Ain't mek no.sense. it's all alleged until proven guilty. The craziest part is that it took place in broad daylight in a highly busy area with alot of people. Not even Navy Seal who skilled and trained woulda try to be so bold. Now the family part is another thing. Their mother wouldn't be able to take this

Her brothers or one of her brothers did her something while she was away to school and what ever it was she had it holding on to for a very long time so that’s what she did to get back at them. Now I’m not here to judge but at the end of the day that’s your family whatever it was you all should have tried and work it out. Kenneth must be rolling in his grave.

Was it stated in court that it was really attempted abduction? I'm trying to understand if it's a suspicion or someone actually confessed. I've personally witness police in court just trying to form a case and would say what they have to say. Abduct one of the brothers or their kids. Anyhow, just the fact that your flesh and blood might be involved makes me sweat

That girl is spoiled by the mother her entire life. She has always been a problem. The mother tries her best to protect her and gives her everything. The most troubling part about what the school children saying is that they had shovel and rope. So it seems like she was going to kill her nephew. Good thing they all did not have the brains to pull this off. How I see this it’s such a bad plan it’s almost like she had want to get caught to embarrass the family for attention. This has to be the worst Abduction attempt in history. Praying for the mother she is a very good woman.

I just can't begin to imagine what her mother must be going through at this time...from a little girl I figured something was just not adding up with her behaviour..all this time I thought it was because she felt she was better than the average or poor little girls...oh my what a shame! she is just crazy in her a$$!

Why would these young men put their lives and the intended victim on the line? For the man in the hospital, this makes no sense at all, since he has so much more than a lot of people...SMDH.
