ETPS suffer first defeat in Little League Baseball

SEA COWS BAY, Tortola, VI- Action is fast and furious in the BVI Little League Baseball Association’s Primary School League and last Sunday, April 23, 2017, Ebenezer Thomas had their five game winning streak ended, 9-8, by St George’s.

The games are switched from the Roger Allen Hodge Park in Sea Cows Bay and the E. Walwyn Brewley Softball Field in Road Town, but it was at the stronghold of SCB that ETPS felt defeat.

Batters who reached safely for St George’s were Miseal Venzen with a single and 2 walks, Rayad Lewis also singled. The hero of the day was Devon Letten who singled tripled and drove in the winning run. The winning pitcher was Jefferson Frank in relief of Jon Marcus Drigo. The loser was Steven Emmanuel in relief of Daniel Maduro.

For Ebenezer were Steven Emmanuel who had 2 home runs and a walk. Jamar Thomas doubled and had a home run. Kvon Thomas, Rakeem Pope and D'jahniah Pemberton connected for a single apiece. Batters who reached safely for St George’s were Miseal Venzen with a single and 2 walks, and Rayad Lewis also singled. Commanding win for Isabella Morris Primary

In game 2 Isabella Morris turned up the heat on Francis Lettsome by out slugging them 12 hits to 6 for a 12 to 5 victory.

Hitters for FLPS were Jahnare Farrington who went 2 for 2 and also drew a walk. Jashani Farrington was also 2 for 2 with 2 singles. Steven Pizaz had a single while Sajani Duporte homered.

For the victorious IMPS, Delano Hodge, Jayqoi Hopkins, T'Sean Smith and Kmori Smith singled while Roycel Rincon tripled. Omari Simmonds singled and tripled and Damian Henry doubled and tripled. D'Angelo Simmonds singled and tripled. Topping off the batting was D'Lorenzo Donovan with a single and home run.

Jayqoi Hopkins was the winning pitcher. He was relieved by Delano Hodge and Damian Henry. Kavon Wheatley who was relieved by Jahshani Farrington suffered the loss.

Other results

On Saturday April 22, 2017, IMPS out muscled YEP in game 1 by a score of 18 to 9.

YEP's hitters were Jumani Pickering with a sigle and triple. Teshawn Jones tripled while Mervin Webster, Carl Johnson and Kiejan Barzey reached on singles.

The victorious IMPS saw Delano Hodge hit 3 singles steal 2 bases and stole twice. Damian Henry doubled, homered and scored twice. Raheem Hodge walked, doubled and scored twice. Kmori Smith singled, tripled and scored twice. Omari Simmonds walked, doubled and scored 2 runs. Diangelo Simmonds walked, singled stole a base and scored twice. Roycel Rinton had a double.

Damian Henry pitched to victory after relieving Roycel Rinton in the First. Kejana Hodge who was relieved by Jumani Pickering in the 3rd took the loss.

In game 2 St George’s put up a fight before surrendering to Francis Lettsome by a score of 14 to 9. Hitters of note for St George’s were Jon Marcus Drigo with a single, double and a home run. Devon George hit 2 singles and Miseal Venzen one. Outstanding hitters were Kavon Wheatley who walked, doubled and struck 2 home runs. Shajahni Duporte hit a triple and 2 singles. Jahnare Farrington had 3 singles and Jashani Farrington had a single and a double. Jashani was also the winning hurler relieved by Sahjahni Duporte. Christopher Penn who was relieved by Jon Marcus Drigo was the losing pitcher.

On Wednesday April 26, 2017 in SCB at 5:30 PM, IMPS play St George’s in game 1. In game 2 at 7:30 PM FLPS take on YEP.

    Look at the picture you mean to tell me that the Recreation Trust could not pay someone to cut the grass. They are paying a man ninety thousand dollars yearly to manage the fields and other places and this is what we are getting.

    why are the kids not playing in uniforms, short pants for baseball is a no, no, common association get it together!

      @the rock, can you please donate some pants or some funds to buy some pants? This is a noble effort of some older guys to revamp the dying Primary School League. It has been working well except for the lack of funds to fully sponsor teams and equipment. Contact Al Frett or Milton McLean with your donation. Thank you.
