ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Elmore Stout High School Varsity Boys basketball team will be on a quest to keep the first invitational championship trophy at home tomorrow, Saturday March 14, 2015 at the Multi-purpose Sports Complex.

The Rams have been playing in the IAA Basketball League in St Thomas USVI since January 2015 and they have been representing the Virgin Islands (VI) and all the high schools, this news site understands.

“This one day tournament will see five teams competing to take home the first ESHS Varsity Boys Invitational Championship, the teams are; ESHS (Elmore Stout High School), VIST (Virgin Islands School of Technical Studies), BFEC (Bregado Flax Educational Centre), Antilles (USVI) , and MTBA (More Than Ball Academy),” Coach Mr Steve E. Parillon told this news site.

He said there will be an open ceremony at 9:45am followed by eleven games from 10am – 10pm.

“This is a huge step for ESHS and the country as high school athletics is moving in a positive direction. For us to host our own tournament is great for the country, the public schools in the USVI were very interested but the process for them to come this weekend was impossible, but they promised to be at our next invitational. We originally had the games slated for March 20th – 22nd at Save The Seed, but when the Complex became available we felt this was the better venue for the tournament. This is our last set of games for the season, we finished 3rd in the IAA High School League, we had a second place finish at the EIKHS invitational and we hope to finish the season on a positive note by winning this championship. For the school's morale, this is great because we are trying to build school spirit, we want Rams to be known around the country and everywhere we go to represent,”  Coach Parillon stated.

The ESHS Varsity Boys Invitational is sponsored by Road Town Whole Sale Ltd, and all proceeds from the game will go towards the Physical Education Department of ESHS.
