ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – House 1 and House 3 were duly crowned Inter House Basketball Champions on Wednesday June 28, 2017, in the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town.

The Elmore Stoutt High School Inter House Basketball Championship concluded with a full day of action, which Organiser Steve E. Parillon saw as a great stride towards cementing the tournament firmly into the School Calendar to rival Sports Day.

“We started the format three years ago, starting as a league and finishing as a knockout tournament, each house had a chance to win. It was pretty competitive, but next year we would like to be in the heart of the school calendar, rather than as school closes, but we will stick with the format and hope to make it an official basketball championship.”

House 1 defeated House 2 for the Junior Champions, with Antwan Robinson as MVP with 14 points.

The Senior Champions were House 3, who beat House 4, led by MVP Chris McKelly’s 22 points.

Parillon concluded that the Girls wouldn’t be left behind, but numbers need to build.

“We discussed including them this year, but there just wasn’t enough to even have an open division. The girls were allowed to play as part of their house team, but going forward we will encourage them to have their own teams."
