ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Immediate former representative of the 5th District and past President of Rotary Club of Road Town Elvis Harrigan, while extending best wishes to the new National Democratic Party (NDP) Government of Premier Dr. D. Orlando Smith, has also called for patience and tolerance to be exercised by citizens.

Delivering the Vote of Thanks at a luncheon held by the Rotary Club of Road Town yesterday November 15, where the guest speaker was Minister for Communications and Works Hon. Mark Vanterpool, Mr. Harrigan also pledged Rotary’s continued efforts to assist in the beautification of the Territory.

Mr. Harrigan jokingly started his address by saying “I am not sure why I was asked to give the Vote of Thanks but I certainly will take this opportunity to do it and am quite happy doing it”. He continued, “I hope I am part of the healing process which would have started already. The campaign is over and we need to wish the government all the best”.

The past President of Rotary added, “we need to assist the Government in developing the country, not only with patience but also with tolerance,” Mr. Harrigan said, much to the appreciation of those in attendance.

Mr. Harrigan, in expressing thanks to Honourable Vanterpool, also said the Minister’s overview of plans for Road Town and the Territory was well done. “Seems like he was on the job for some time now…So thank you very much and certainly Rotary will do what we can to assist with the beautification of the Territory.”

Harrigan has now joined another Virgin Islands Party colleague Hon. Julian Fraser who was able to retain his 3rd District seat, in calling for the people to have patience with the new Government of the NDP.

Nice to see that he has recovered and has polished up his professional, political and diplomatic skills. Whoever advised him "congrats"; but first impression is always the lasting one. I hope all of us can genuinely put party aside and come together for our country.

Patience and tolerance for the new government? That is quite a condescending remark, Juggy. Its the kind of thing people would say about a child. I thought it was your party that was booted out because the voters lacked patience and tolerance with it. Check the beam in your eye first, honorable sir.
