DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI – Ray D. Victor, Dion M. Blyden and Phillip E. Glasgow Jr are some of the elite players named in the draft for the 2019 Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League.

The Draft Pick will take place on Wednesday, July 31, 2019, at 7:00 pm at Save the Seed Energy Centre’s Conference Room, on the building's 3rd Floor adjacent to the Weight Room in Duff’s Bottom, Tortola.

The draft of elite players is now a popular signature of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League, as it keeps all participating teams balanced.

How the Draft works

A raffle pick will determine which team gets which number picked in the draft. Only drafted players can be traded; however, trading of players is up to the League Committee.

Teams with the lowest record/score in the 2017-2018, Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed League will get numbers 1, 2, and 3 in order to have first preference to pick in the draft system as a display of fairness.

Participating in the draft system is not compulsory; however, it is highly recommended so that each team is allowed a fair and equal opportunity in the League.

Elite players for the draft system should be well-disciplined, and cannot be suspended from any other local basketball league.

Players in 2019 draft

According to a press release from the League Committee this evening, July 29, 2019, the 10 senior teams in the Hon Fraser League will pick from the pool of players comprising Ray D. Victor, Cedric D. King, Nathaniel J. Malone, Phillip E. Glasgow Jr., JaVaughn N. Cameron, Juan R. Hatchet, Halstead C. Chiverton, aka ‘JR’ and Dion M. Blyden.

Travis A. Isaac will remain with his championship team Bayside Blazers, for a final year as per the rules.

Each Team is also allowed one overseas/international player who is not a resident of the [British] Virgin Islands.

All team Owners, Managers and Coaches are asked to be on time for 7:00 PM sharp on Wednesday July 31, 2019, as the Save the Seed Energy Centre closes at 9:00 p.m.

The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League tips off on Saturday, August 24, 2019.
