ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Talk show host Edmund Maduro has lashed out at the Territory’s leadership and has accused leaders of today of taking Virgin Islanders in the wrong direction, away from freedom and into bondage.

“Our government is making sure that they sell out to outsiders every single square foot of beach front, pushing we the people of the British Virgin Islands in the back,” Maduro charged on his EGM radio show aired on March 6, 2014.

He questioned the blocking of access to beaches by various property owners despite laws being implemented which prohibited this from happening.

The talk show host also took a swipe at emerging parties and branded them a bunch of crooks while commenting about the role of Job as a servant of God as written in the Bible.

According to Maduro, the new parties being formed were all being done so in secret. “I was promised by one of the parties that were being formed, a copy of their constitution and an invitation to become a part of them, and those crooks up to now [haven’t] called me!” he exclaimed.

He added that he was also not given a copy of the party’s constitution and asked how it was possible to support a party like that. “I am telling you, let the world know they are crooks, they cannot be relied upon,” Maduro continued.

“They are a bunch of crooks,” he repeated, “telling people that they want to form party, to do what? They’re going to be ten times worse than what we got.”

In similar vein, Maduro also said attempts to muzzle the press and shut the mouths of the people of the Territory were signs of a crooked government. He also remarked that the preferential berthing agreements signed with Norwegian Cruise Line and Disney Cruise Line were ‘ignorance’.

One caller attempted to appease Maduro and said the host will soon be welcomed to the new party as promised despite the wait he has had to endure so far.

“Those people who you’re calling crooks still have you in mind,” the caller said. “They haven’t given you up. They are still going to put you on the team.”
