Driver taken to hospital following accident on Waterfront Drive

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- At least one person has been taken to hospital following a mishap on Waterfront Drive minutes ago, today January 16, 2012.

Reports reaching Virgin Islands News Online are that the accident occurred sometime between 3 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. in the vicinity of Government House.

Unconfirmed reports state that the driver of a Grey Suzuki Sidekick had to be cut from his vehicle. He has since been whisked away to Peebles Hospital by ambulance.

According to police, the vehicle hit a wall. It is not clear what caused the driver to lose control of his vehicle. Police further stated that the man was taken to hospital for assessment.
