'Drain swamp of NDP' taken out of context - Julio S. Henry
Mr Henry, in a Thursday, April 7, 2019, edition of his radio show told co-host Kareem K. Pickering aka ‘Picko Moff’ that in saying ‘drain the swamp’ he doesn’t hate any NDP member on an individual level, rather, he just wanted to see the NDP go as a collective unit.
No Personal Attacks
“I believe drain the swamp for me—and we are relating the information to the election—was that for me it meant getting rid of all the NDP, that’s what drain the swamp means, that’s what I was hoping for,’ he told his listening audience.
He said his comments were never meant to be taken personally even though he named Mark H. Vanterpool in addition to Hons Alvera Maduro-Caines (R6) & Opposition Leader Marlon A. Penn (R8) as those he would love to see exit the political sphere.
“I ain’t going out there personally attacking nobody, but it just so happen that three of the NDP persons won their seat, doesn’t mean I hate them, doesn’t mean I have anything against them,” he affirmed.
Donald Trump Analogy
Henry stated, “I simply said for me drain the swamp means, like Donald Trump came in his administration and he said drain the swamp… all the people that he could have got rid of he got rid of, that’s what drain the swamp means.”
In referencing a personal attack he received as a result of the controversial comment, Henry noted, “So somebody attack me today and thought that I was personally attacking their family member… because they said the article that came out the way it was written it sounds like I was getting personal.”
Further, in the March 26, 2019, edition of the show, Host Mr Henry also implored that he personally would prefer to not have Mr. Vanterpool to contend with as well, given the current conundrum over his District 4 HoA seat.
