'Don't expect miracles!’ - Hon Turnbull tells constituents
"We have to prioritise... what affects the district overall. That's the only way we are going to get anything done. I don't want to be outing fires. There are some situations that will pop up that we must address but we have been dealing with things for far too long that we must address," he said.
"We have to say these are the priority issues we are going to deal with. As we address one we move it off the list and we address another," he told the gathering.
"If we are thinking that it is going to happen where everybody just wants to get their issue fixed it is not going to happen. We have to be working together. The business community, the professional community, the young community, our churches... The entire Second District working together. The worst thing we could do is to sit and complain and complain and complain and nobody moves," he said.
Get aboard the train
"My responsibility is to move and I need us all on the train because we are moving forward," he said. "I am willing to do my part to ensure the District goes from where it is to where it needs to be."
Some of the issues raised by residents were the state of the district in terms of its beautification needs, landscaping, public toilets in Cane Garden Bay, derelict vehicles along the road, the need for air conditioning in schools and some others.
Honourable Turnbull made a commitment to address those issues within the shortest time practicable.
Open door policy
He told residents that he has an open door policy and that they were free to visit his office or call him with their concerns. He said establishing permanent offices, at least one on Tortola and one on Jost van Dyke is something he is working on.
“I am in the process of trying to get two district offices – one in the Tortola area and the other on Jost van Dyke,” he said. He also gave the residents his Government assigned cell number.
No meeting in 10 years
One man from the district, Clyde Hodge said, “Everything will seem like a priority because we haven’t had a district meeting in 10 years.”
“The last District Representative [J. Alvin Christopher] did not have a meeting with us. So we can’t now expect ‘Mitch’ to do everything [at once],” said Hodge.

Ain't Alvin who built the same community centre they were in chatting sh*te?
In an election "battle", the game of life is won by inches-you have to a little smarter and a little faster. Mitch was, and he won!
