ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Word just reaching our newsroom is that some eight to ten doctors have staged a sick-out at the public hospital in Road Town.

The sick-out or unofficial strike at Peebles Hospital began around 9:00 AM this morning February 20, 2017 and has doctors represented from all specialties.

It is our newsroom’s understanding that the doctors have many grievances, including lack of communication, disrespect for doctors’ views and the issues of pay packages for local doctors.

It is believed that the BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA) has been in limbo following its Chairman, John I. Cline, being forced out by Premier Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith (AL).

It is unclear how this sickout is affecting the delivery of medical care and if other medical staff will be joining the industrial action.

Our newsroom will bring more details as they unfold.

I dear someone to lead a march to get rid of this pothetic evil spirited Government. Nothing good will come out of evil so might as well we get rid of them from now and to think they from here. No man enough. Health is important boss. All you eat healthy today so all you good.

Premier can't fire the Governor like he fired Cline so he's finding a different avenue by removing some of the Governor's duties. All because the Governor is calling a spade a spade. It's sad when our own government can't take criticism without lashing out and victimizing.

Maybe there is such a thing as peace, the reason we can't find it is because we're only looking for it on our own terms. Then whose fault is that we don't have any?

From what I can see if that strike last long the hospital will definately be in trouble because I see 2 surgeons and a few medical doctors the nurses need to joint as well, instead of fuss with each other make the government put their money where their mouth is. A have a question how many local nurses have the hospital loss in 2016, and it will lose more

The real problem is asyou pointed out, where they came from. The economy where they came from, such that it is,is buoyed by the VI. Where they came from, there is no respect for each other's lives. Killings and murder is the norm. People from where they came from has altered the VI for worse on all fronts, socially educationally . The VI must use this golden opportunity to recruit medics from elsewhere and not from where they came from. Where they came from is a thorn in our side and internationally they are no good use either...Deportation always left and right.

You see colored doctors fighting for their rights just to make a point (after years of work telated abuse)and not totally abandoning the the important services of that day, BUT YOU SAY THEY ARE GREEDY AND THAT THEY DO NOT ADHERE TO THEIR HIPPOCRATIC OATH!

When white doctors in England stopped working last year, you called the courageous and fighting for equal rights.

All these people, who commented here and posted nonsupport to these colored doctors of the island, are most likely blacks and DESCENDANTS OF SLAVES! And you wonder why blacks are still having slave mentality?

Comparing Black doctors White doctors makes no sense. Black lives matter very little to lacks as you can tell by the crime rate in places where these black physicians came from and now their lack of concern for the lives of their patients who are 99 .% blacks and the ingratitude and typical attempt to destroy what hassupported you...The VI contributes to their economy more than neighbouring country..They are simply demonstrating their crude,
selfish and misguided behaviour which ultimately destroys themselves and the black community . Just another day in the life of blacks with no noteworthy purpose and self knowledge or contribution.

The 2016 strike in England was by Junior Doctors. They were still students in training Patients were not in jeopardy. Full fledged physicians did not participate in the strike and continued to care for the patients. Consider the ethnic makeup ?of these patients who were the ideals for the Junior doctors. As in most hospitals, they were of African and Caribbean heritage and as you mentioned, these doctors on strike were white. The situation here in the BVI and currently Kenya,is that of Black physicians inhumanity to Black patients and in their native country. Two vastly different scenarios.

Full time! the doctors and nurses in the BVI need to be compensated properly. All doctors and nurses get up and show up this is full time. Too much nonsense going on in the BVI. Look at how NHI is ripping us off and still working the doctors for free in the hospital when those at the private clinics working on commission and living large , where on earth you heard that doctors working on commission this is madness.
Pay the poor doctors and nurses in the hospital good money that they can work to the best of their ability. Too much politics in that hospital some of those drunkards need to go.

I hope now when they go on strike for their own good I hope you all renew their contracts, you all are very spiteful when it comes to things like this.
Our eyes are watching you in a time like this.
    Wake up!
