‘Do not split your votes’ – Hon Ralph T. O’Neal OBE
Hon O'Neal was speaking on May 14, 2015 in a broadcast to the territory on ZBVI 780AM. “The Virgin Islands Party is fielding a full slate of candidates and I believe that they will serve you well and will well and truly run the Government to the satisfaction of the people who will elect them come June 8. My encouragement to you is ‘Do not split your vote’” he said.
He advised them that when they vote for the District Candidate, they must remember also to vote for the four At Large candidates.
The VIP is fielding a full 13 member slate comprising incumbent candidate for the First District Hon Andrew A. Fahie, candidate for the Second District Rajah A. Smith, incumbent candidate for the Third District Hon Julian Fraser RA, candidate for the Fourth District JoAnn ‘Roxie’ Romney, candidate for the Fifth District Zoe J. Walcott-McMillan, candidate for the Sixth District Elvis ‘Juggy’ Harrigan, candidate for the Seventh District Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard, candidate for the Eight District McLloyd O. Walters and candidate for the Ninth District Elton L. ‘All Out’ Sprauve; together with the four At Large candidates in Sharie B. de Castro, Irene F. Penn-O’Neal, Dr Karl Dawson and Charmaine R. Rosan-Bunbury.
Hon O’Neal told them not to split their vote because a person might have given them something or spoken well about them as their concern should be a government to look out for the people.
1st time voters robbed of chance
He noted that many of them have voted already and would be familiar with the way the Virgin Islands Party has dealt with the country but lamented those who will not get a chance to vote because of the truncated timeframe given for elections, rendering them ineligible because they would not yet have reached 18.
“Some of you are voting for the first time, some of you have lived here long enough to know the Virgin Islands Party. Some of you have received your belongership just a few days before voting day, some of you who are 18 will also be voting for the first time. I do sympathise with those who are nearing 18 and if the term had gone to its full four years would have been able to vote. But have faith and courage,” said Honourable O’Neal.
No chance to say thank you
He also lamented not being able to say a proper thank you in the House of Assembly for his years in office, having been first elected to the House in 1975. This was due to the suddenly announced dissolution of the House of Assembly by Premier Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith in preparation for snap elections on June 8, 2015.
“I wish to thank all of you for supporting me over the past 40 years and even though I did not get the chance to say so in the House, I am thankful to God for giving me the strength and the ability to serve you," he said.

GO SIT YOUR OLD @$$ SOME PLACE
He was the first one to say he sees Government calling an early election, now he's talking about not being able to sing kumbaya and hold hands because HOA dissolved? Carvin Malone of VIP said elections were going to be early and in July. What's all the bitching and moaning about now then if they already knew? Ralph was over in VG praising Myron for all his works and hoping he continues. Myron can only continue if he is re-elected with the NDP team, but Ralph is now here saying don't split votes. Who is he with VIP or NDP?
when election is held.
Mr. O'Neal the truth is you have done some things for the counrty, but you
have failed your district miserably. Some folks are praising you for what you
have done but also saying it was a waste of 40 years since there are very little
to show for it. Including your candidate you have endorsed.
You need to quietly exit the stage, the show is over. Too much left to fix in your
district, however thank you sir.
U CAN EAT OR DRINK A PARK?? CAN U CARRY IT TO THE BANK??
its very obvious.
The power of logical deduction! I think that just before you were born, it was decided that logic should be thrown out the door. There were two (2), I say two political parties trying to convince the people in town at the same time.
The first thing should come to mind is WHY DID THE NDP CHOOSE TO BE IN THE 4th AT THE SAME TIME AS THE VIP?
I say, IF THE NDP WANT TO SHARE THE SAME PLACE, SPACE, AND TIME as the VIP or any other party or Independent candidate, THE THING TO DO IS TO HAVE DEBATES; especially given the short time.
IT SEEMS AS IF THE NDP IS DELIBERATELY causing confusion, STRATEGICALLY SO.
It is strategies such as this make some say that the NDP is cultivating a culture of disrespect. It is things like this that make me think that the NDP is insulting the public.
DEBATES are a good way to SHOW THAT POLITICIANS WANT US TO GENUINELY CONSIDER THE ISSUES. Debates help us to be fully INFORMED NOT MISINFORMED voters.
Trickery, Trickology should not be the motive for voting for a particular party or person.
A party or candidate that tries to discourage the people from being fully informed does not deserve my vote, even if some people I like are on the team.
NDP, the constituents are seeing right through your lackluster governance.
them under the bus. They affraid to give him the mike.
School children say he sound like he is campaigning for NDP
and Fraiser wants to know if they sure he is with them.
If NDP wins, it's going to be 11-2 as follows:
District 1 - Andrew Fahie (VIP)
District 2 - Melvin Turnbull (NDP)
District 3 - Kevin Smith (NDP)
District 4 - Mark Vanterpool (NDP)
District 5 - Delores Christopher (NDP)
District 6 - Alvera Maduro Caines (NDP)
District 7 - Kedrick Pickering (NDP)
District 8 - Marlon Penn (NDP)
District 9 - Elton Sprauve (VIP)
At Large - D Orlando Smith (NDP)
At Large - Myron Walwyn (NDP)
At Large - Ronnie Skelton (NDP)
At Large - Archie Christian
If VIP wins, it's going to be 7-6 as follows:
District 1 - Andrew Fahie (VIP)
District 2 - Melvin Turnbull (NDP)
District 3 - Julian Fraser (VIP)
District 4 - Mark Vanterpool (NDP)
District 5 - Zoe Walcott-McMillan (VIP)
District 6 - Elvis Harrigan (VIP)
District 7 - Oleanvine Maynard (VIP)
District 8 - Marlon Penn (NDP)
District 9 - Elton Sprauve (VIP)
At Large - D Orlando Smith (NDP)
At Large - Irene Penn-Oneal (VIP)
At Large - Ronnie Skelton (NDP)
At Large - Archie Christian (NDP) or a non-VIP candidate
My 13 cents.
In fact some can't say anything better because even on political trail they areis doing the same so
