ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) is hosting a Simulation Exercise “Operation Tropic Hit” on Friday January 11, 2013 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 12 noon.

This exercise, which is based on the scenario of a cruise vessel in distress, seeks to test the Territory’s recently drafted procedures for managing cruise disasters.

To effectively execute this exercise the Department is soliciting the assistance of at least 50 volunteers who will serve as victims.

In recognition of their efforts, DDM will provide the first 25 volunteers who register with an Appreciation Package which includes free cell phone airtime from Digicel or LIME.

The DDM expresses it appreciation to all those who volunteer to be part of this exercise as we seek to enhance the readiness of all sectors of the Territory to significantly reduce vulnerability to hazards of all kinds.
