Day 2 of Opposition boycott of HOA!
Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith said that he spoke to Leader of the Opposition the Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE who informed him that he would not be present at the sitting today.
“Yesterday after our discussions with the Leader of the Opposition and after the House was recessed and after he was given the opportunity to come to the House today to present his side of the budget and to make representation to the people of the Territory, unfortunately I received a call from the Leader of the Opposition this morning informing me that he was unfortunately unable to be attend today’s session,” said Hon Smith.
Following his walkout of the House yesterday February 10, 2014, Third District Representative The Honourable Julian Fraser RA told Virgin Islands News Online, "I told the Government this morning that it is one thing when the Government uses its arrogance to make us members of the Opposition the second ring. But when it comes to taking the public and making them the third ring of a three-ring circus, that’s where we get off. We are not going along with it. So in that regard I cannot continue to participate in that charade, so I left the House.”
“I understood that after what happened today they decided to further recess the sitting today for tomorrow. I guess they are hoping for someone from the Opposition to show up to have a debate,” he had told this news site.
“The problem is that Government has been acting in total disregard for the presence of the Oppositon and in so doing they disenfranchise our constituents. Nowhere in the budget are our views represented and it means that if our views are not represented in the budget, our constituents are left out,” Hon Fraser told this news site yesterday.

Country needs a fresh start, cause between VIP and NDP we all lose. Picking the lesser of two EViLS is our only solution, it sure don't leave us much!
