ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The Opposition today February 11, 2014, continued their boycott of the budget debates at the Fourth Sitting of the Third Session of the Second House of Assembly following their ongoing dissatisfaction with Government’s scheduling of budget debates and for disregarding the Opposition.

Premier and Minister of Finance Dr The Honourable D. Orlando Smith said that he spoke to Leader of the Opposition the Honourable Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE who informed him that he would not be present at the sitting today.

“Yesterday after our discussions with the Leader of the Opposition and after the House was recessed and after he was given the opportunity to come to the House today to present his side of the budget and to make representation to the people of the Territory, unfortunately I received a call from the Leader of the Opposition this morning informing me that he was unfortunately unable to be attend today’s session,” said Hon Smith.

Following his walkout of the House yesterday February 10, 2014, Third District Representative The Honourable Julian Fraser RA told Virgin Islands News Online, "I told the Government this morning that it is one thing when the Government uses its arrogance to make us members of the Opposition the second ring. But when it comes to taking the public and making them the third ring of a three-ring circus, that’s where we get off. We are not going along with it. So in that regard I cannot continue to participate in that charade, so I left the House.”

“I understood that after what happened today they decided to further recess the sitting today for tomorrow. I guess they are hoping for someone from the Opposition to show up to have a debate,” he had told this news site.

“The problem is that Government has been acting in total disregard for the presence of the Oppositon and in so doing they disenfranchise our constituents. Nowhere in the budget are our views represented and it means that if our views are not represented in the budget, our constituents are left out,” Hon Fraser told this news site yesterday.

Take a good look at Pit Bull, Manko Buffalo, Sly Fox and Ralphie and tell me if them ready to lead this country any place. Bunch of people without proper vision. Wake up, people and do what's good for the country first, not self.

My prayer for the leaders of this land is that they come to the realization that there is ONE who is greater than they are. Also, that they may understand that this kind of behaviour doesn't speak well for leaders. Thirdly, I pray that they will all come to an agreement because they are there to work for "US", the people of these islands and not for themselves. Now, DON'T GET ME WRONG, I am by no means bashing any of the opposition members because there's a saying that goes like this: ONLY WHO'S IN THE KITCHEN WILL FEEL THE HEAT.

To all the VIP bloggers, is that the kind or representation you want from your leaders, boy cutting an important budget debate? The Hon. Fraser and the Hon. Fahie are the two individuals who are always in the media complaining and finding faults with everything that NDP say or does. The Budget debate is a good place to correct what they believe that the NDP is not doing right. If they think that they are the better party to lead this country it should be shown in their actions, and only then we the people will be convince that they are the better party and deserving our votes. With this kind of behavior how can we vote for them to lead this country?
