ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Despite giving up 9 hits in an tense battle of wits with Sharia Romney of the Diamondbacks, Thea Cooke kept the Padres undefeated on Saturday February 4, 2012, with a 19-12 victory in the BVISA Junior Women’s League.

The Padres’ 19 runs came from 13 hits, 5 errors and they left 6 runners on base. The Diamondbacks scored 12 runs, with 13 errors and left 4 runners on base.

“Although I didn’t get to pitch the way I wanted to I was still satisfied by the end result of it all,” commented Cooke. “I must say the Diamondbacks team came for a very defensive game and me being able to put up with the fight and end up as the winning pitcher was a success.”

Cooke has shown great control so far this season, but readily admits she has more work to do. “Before the next game hopefully I will be practicing on different pitches including drop balls, curve balls and change ups. My confidence is growing and I feel pretty relaxed with what I’m doing,” she concluded.
