EAST END/LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI – The annual Festival parade at East End/Long Look yesterday August 5, 2015 had a delayed start which left persons asking what was happening this year with so many of the festival activities commencing later than the norm.

As the piping hot sun cooled off somewhat, the action got underway just before 6pm, hours after the usual scheduled timeframe for start of parades at around 2pm.

Persons who braved the hot sun and had gathered along the road side and in the Yvette Penn Festival Village asked what was happening.

They were calling and texting friends asking whether there had been any movement of the parade as yet.

At about 5pm the Festival Village was almost like a graveyard of inactivity save for some music being played by the sound system there. Some people milled around some of the stalls all waiting to hear when the parade would have gotten underway.

Some persons were of the view that the early morning Rise and Shine Tramp in East End might have been responsible for the slow turnout of persons at the parade later in the same day.

However, once the action got underway there was a steady flow of troupes which included majorettes ‘twirling’ and females of all shapes and sizes ‘twerking’.

There also were the ultimate skydancers featuring one performer who looked like he didn't take his meds as he was doing things that the other skydancers were not. At one stage he ran on the stilts...a sight that one needs to be prepared for. At other times he was doing some other wild stunts leaving one holding their breath as to whether he would fall and hurt himself. But fall he didn’t.

Floats also included pageant winners, including Miss BVI Adorya R. Baly who was stunningly resplendent in her outfit and had the regal wave thing going.

Why should they cancel it? Were you there. . ?

If not.. then shut up. Cause obviously you have no interest in doing so.

If you did. Then stay home. Cause obviously your full of negativity.

East end commitee did an awesome job. Timestarting shouldn't even be a headline cause we start almost all events here on this island late so whats the big deal? You all got a parade now stick it in your pipe and smoke it....

that's all some of we does go out for to mine people business. This is the only Caribbean country I see people think ministers of government can't have a good time. They are humans. The man is as real as real can people get some of us are too caught up with self preservation and don't know how to have a good time. Feel sorry for some of us.

congratulations. three hours late makes BVI look like a third world country. It says "my time is more important than your time or anyone waiting". It is rude and unprofessional.

Parade and Jouvey the same day is obviously not working---these committees not creative---I think music festival is a better investment than of tax payers money than both east end and Carrot bay

Parade had content but some lessons -
If starting at 3 pm then let it be known that Parham Town will be the major performance area replacing Long Swamp.
The Parade Marshalls must have some concept of timing and the will to move the performers along!!
Showed great promise - parham town do have the space for replacing long swamp
