BAUGHERS BAY, Tortola, VI – Social commentator Mr Claude O. Skelton-Cline says he believes the Commission of Inquiry announced by Governor Augustus J.U. Jaspert is to prove that the Virgin Islands is corrupt, not on facts but on rumours tantamount to a witch-hunt and fishing expedition.

“It appears to me… the United Kingdom has already come to a conclusion that the Virgin Islands is corrupt, they have now issued this Commission of Inquiry to prove what they have already concluded,” Skelton-Cline said on his ‘Honestly Speaking’ show of January 21, 2021.

No defence of the Gov’t – Skelton-Cline

The clergyman continued, “For those of you who think that somehow what I am sharing here is in defence of the sitting government, then you are sadly mistaken.”

“The fight that we are in and the fight that I am in, in particular, is for these Virgin Islands. I am not going to sit here no matter who is in power and watch Rome burn, I don't love Caesar more than I love Rome,” he said.

Further, Skelton-Cline sent a message to persons who are using the CoI as an opportunity to gloat as a win against Premier Andrew A. Fahie (R1) and the VIP administration.

“I see some of us out here gloating, I see some of us are happy, saying its good for Andrew Fahie, is good for the VIP… brothers and sisters I want you to step back from this and let us be sober-minded, let us take some of the emotions out of it.”

CoI has to do with future – Skelton-Cline

With a mission to free the territory, Mr Skelton-Cline said the CoI has nothing to do with the sitting government, rather it is about the future of the territory.

“You think if they paint this sitting government corrupt, that somehow that gives whoever is waiting in the wings a chance to come and take power? You're not going to have any power, you'll be powerless people in powerful positions,” he said.

He said the CoI announcement is nothing but a fishing expedition and witch-hunt by powers in the UK looking to confirm suspicion based on rumours.

CSC is no friend of mine. I have on numerous occasions disagree on his opinions but be careful what you ask for eh. While I assume many on tHesse platform are local I cannot be sure and the campaign of the oppressors on many a continents on personage of a different ethnicity is well documented. History of oppression and devide and conquer by the most intelligent or elitist of people in the world. On the arrival of yaspert a young intellect as gov and the old MM should have sent a certain signal but the ignorance of our people will be the return to................

Mr. Skelton-Cline’s latest comments make him a very fine candidate for the BVIs Shawn Hannity prize. Or, should that be the prize for being more ignorant than a rock.

Why is the COI vague? it is because the Governor has great hopes that the people here will turn on one another and bring him information. He is hoping that like back in slavery where some persons were sold in slavery by their own people, the people will come forward and do the same, But what people dont realize is this information is not the bring down the Goverrnment, it will give the UK reason to take over the BVI. But we are so blinded by hate, dislike or whatever, that we cant see what is right infront of our eyes.

The Governor says he is looking out the BVI, no he is not, he is looking out for the UK interest. his loyalty is to his employeer. This COI is a distraction and covering the UK real agenda. Just as they did to TCI and Cayman.

How can the Governor and FCO pick a UK Jugde and only one Judge on a COI that he wants to be fair and trasparent. If the Governor wanted transpearancy he would have open session or have at least three persons (non from the BVI) on the COI. People please tell me when since the 1900s have a black person on trial ever fbeen found innocent by a all white jury and or Jwhite udge. I am not against the COI, but listening to the Governors statement about the power of this Judge, a decision as to the conclusion has already been made. GUILTY.

The Governor and his people are sitting back and laughing because their plan is working.

No one will be found guilty as a direct result of the CoI. The CoI is an investigating body. Any TRIAL will be held in a regular court after the fact.

    Mr.Cline:
My advice to you is to stay away from this talk show for the time being, until we know if you might be spoken to by the C.O.I.
If the Premier take a reflection,he will see that it is people like you giving bad advice and wronf advice to the Premier.
    We want the C.O.I.

I wouldn’t be keen on the COI either if I was receiving large sums of money at the taxpayers expense for vaguely specified work that never gets completed.

so wasnt it our present government who was calling for investigations into bvi airways...the wall....tortola pier park..??? if that was based on FACT then people would be locked up already....it was initially based on rumor and alegations and then a case is built. this is no different...in fact the govenor me tioned two of those three cases today in his briefing.
so...govenor is just setting in motion and getting it done in an impartial way...what the present government has been calling for.
    respectfully submitted.

The difeerence is the Auditor General produced a report in terms of the figures based on estimates, purcahse order, contracts, etc. in order to determine if monies were misappropriated. Then there was a called of an comission of inquiry.

In this case there has been no such invetigation or report. This commssion of inquiry is based on, and as the Governor himself stated, allegations.

So the difference the Commissiion of inquiry for the other projects are based on fact and findings and this one on allrgation.

You really believe that this is impartial. Impartial, i think you meant transparent would have been not having only one person on the Commmsion.
