Claude O. Skelton-Cline going public! To hold press conference!

- The former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority plans to answer questions & tell it all @ an April 12, 2016 Press Conference
Former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) Claude O. Skelton-Cline is scheduled to hold a 'live' press conference in the CBN Channel 51 studio at 7:00 PM Tuesday April 12, 2016 in the Chevelle Centre Building across from the Sunday Morning Well, in Road Town on the main island of Tortola. The press conference is regarding his issues over his contract not being renewed and his decision to take the NDP Government to court. Photo: VINO
There has been a split in the NDP Administration over Claude O. Skelton-Cline’s contract issue. At the recent 2016 Budget debate, two members of the House of Assembly came to Skelton-Cline’s defense, praising him for his good work and publicly stating that he was treated unfairly and not given the credit for his service at the controversial Ports Project. His uncle, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton (right)- a Territorial At Large Representative- and the Second District Representative Hon Melvin M. Turnbull (left) came to his defense and praised him for his good work while serving as Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority. Photo: VINO/File

ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- As the plot thickens over the fall-out regarding the non-renewal of contract of the former Managing Director (MD) of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA), Claude O. Skelton-Cline, things are getting hotter as Mr Skelton-Cline is scheduled to hold a 'tell it all' press conference on the matter.

It was this news site that first and accurately broke the story that Mr Skelton-Cline had taken the government of the Virgin Islands to court seeking a Judicial Review over the non-renewal of his contract after the BVI Ports Authority Board had recommended to Cabinet a renewal with a higher salary since early 2015.

The former MD was reportedly told by some Ministers of Government to wait until after the June 2015 general elections, as once his National Democratic Party (NDP) won his contract would have been renewed.

His NDP party won in a landslide, however, his contract was not renewed after the election and to date the reasons are unknown.

NDP split over Skelton-Cline

There has been a split in the NDP Administration over Skelton-Cline’s contract issue. His uncle, Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Ronnie W. Skelton- a Territorial At Large Representative- and the Second District Representative Hon Melvin M. Turnbull came to his defense and praised him for his good work while serving as Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority.

Skelton-Cline not treated right by NDP

Both legislators said Mr Skelton-Cline was treated unfairly and never given the credit for his good works in bringing the Tortola Pier Project to where is it today. The fall out has caused serious tension within the ruling government, according to our senior NDP source, “that could have long term effects over the survival and stability of the Administration,” the same source told our newsroom yesterday, April 10, 2016.

Live press conference

The press conference is scheduled to take place ‘live’ in the CBN Channel 51 studio at 7:00 PM Tuesday April 12, 2016 in the Chevelle Centre Building across from the Sunday Morning Well, in Road Town on the main island of Tortola.

It will also be broadcast live on 90.9FM.

It appears that Skelton-Cline is expected to drop some bombshells and the public will be waiting to see what information he comes with, as well as the Dr D. Orlando Smith led Administration’s response.

The subject Minister of the BVI Ports Authority, Hon Mark H. Vanterpool (R4) told reporters earlier this year that Skelton-Cline did a good job on the Ports Project but “it was time to move on.” It is unclear if some of Skelton-Cline’s fire at the April 12, 2016 press conference will be targeted at Hon Vanterpool.

Our newsroom will be the first to bring our readers all the accurate details on this ongoing controversy.

I'd say move on. Your contract expired and you should be grateful that you got the job in the first place considering you are not qualified. But if you can shed light on how NDP actually works, that could be valuable too. Since all we get is silence. It is a club of good ol' boys that run the country.

Every firm or company reserves the right at the end of a contract, to renew it or end it. I don't have anything against Claude, but why he thinks that his contract had to be renewed? We all are equal, so nothing special about Claude.

If it is the “30 pieces of silver” he is pushing so hard for, you must admit that he has good timing. With the world watching us for any excuse to strengthen their case, his timing is on point. It looks like he can teach Doc a thing or two. They had him in the wrong position all along, because it seems like he is very good at this political game. He needs to be their strategist; they obviously need one just about now. His strategy maybe just to give the public alittle bit to send a message and force the govt to react and put up; or he can become the local wikiLeaks and spill the beans, causing pandemonium in the land, putting everyone involved in crisis mode, allowing them all to defend their own roles in this matter. If that is the case, this will certainly be one bold gamble and can diminish any future career he maybe looking at in the territory, except for family businesses. Regardless of the outcome, “we shall not be fooled” any longer. Just like a game of chess, in the end, the King and the Pawn are tightly paced right back into the same box, to be played again. If anything he sure have our attention on this one. Pandora Box has been lifted and problems are popping up everywhere now. All eyes glued to CBN Channel 51 studio on Tuesday at 7:00 PM, and all ears to the broadcast on 90.9FM. The world is watching.

How are we going to know what is the "truth" and what is a lie? Whatever he says we will judge as not the truth especially if he does not say what we want him to say because we already know what we want the "truth" to be.

The elements to a contract: (1) Offer (2) Acceptance (3) Consideration (4) Intention to Create Legal Relations. The elements must add up and in his case all he had was a promise, if those were the words, used. "Wait till after elections." For what? To talk about contract? We speculating now. Parner, it's the Government's right not to renew. Go siddung. The job is the Cabinet's to give to whomever they choose. Let me hear you and Smalls-Davis in court talking about legitimate expectation.

If there was no contractual agreement then there is no legal action. If the government has something to hide, then there will be some hush hush payoff or contract will be renewed. Otherwise all the extra action is in vein.

What happened to the battle is the Lord's? Daniel was thrown in a den of lions and what did he do? Pray...and God delivered him. I know sometimes people do things that are seemingly unjustified and you really want to get them for it. You want to let the world know of the injustice. But, when you have faith in God to move mountains, you leave it all in his hands. We are mere human mortals. What can we do that God cannot do for us if we trust him. O ye of little faith. Maybe God saving you from disaster Mr. Cline. Maybe you or your family member did something that you were not supposed to do. Maybe you preached about a man called Job so now you are being tested. Do not take it personal. It's not even about you right now. Examine yourself and move on trusting in God.
