ROAD TOWN, Tortola VI – With the health of the Virgin Islands (VI) in focus, Caribbean Insurers Limited (CIL) will stage its 4th annual Health & Wellness Expo on Saturday, May 25, 2019, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Multi-Purpose Sports Complex in Road Town, Tortola.

Director of CIL, Ms Simone T. Monsanto, in an exclusive interview with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), said the event is ready for its execution and will feature lots of free perks, including workout sessions, health sessions, and seminars that the entire family can enjoy.

Adults and Children welcome

“Everything is under control, everything is put together. We just want to invite the BVI community to come out in numbers and support the event because there’s going to be free testing… for everyone, there’s going to [be] a Cardiologist in house, we're going to have testing for children and adults, blood glucose, blood pressure etc,” Ms Monsanto told our newsroom.

The event will also feature special guest, Dr Ahmed Ameen Waheed M.D, specialist for Internal Medicine, Kidney and Hypertension.

Reflecting on the growth of the event over the years, Mr Monsanto in a recent interview on the ZBVI Umoja show said this year will be much larger in comparison to the very humble beginnings of the event four years ago.

“It wasn’t a lot of booths, maybe I would say about 15 and basically two Puerto Rican booths and the rest were local, but then it was well attended and I started marketing for more hospitals overseas to come in and local businesses and local health providers here, so I had to move the second year over to the Multi-Purpose Complex,” she told host Cromwell Smith aka 'Edju En Ka' on the Thursday May 9, 2019, edition of the show.

Packed with Activities

With over 40 vendors confirmed, the CIL Director noted that most of the booths will be giving back something to the community and is urging the public to come out and support the event, “Dress comfortably so you can participate, we’re going have at least five work out sessions,” she added.

Further, attendees can look forward to booths from health care providers like the British Virgin Islands Health Services Association (BVIHSA), Pavia Hospital, Eureka Medical Clinic in addition to B&F Medical Complex.

The Health Seminars will feature educational sessions on Nutritional Food advice and Preparation, Dental Health, Cancer Awareness and Chronic Care Self-Management with fitness activities every hour in the areas of Zumba and Salsa classes.
