ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Close to two months ago, a major fire in the center of Road Town, Tortola that destroyed Hazem’s Shoe Store and parts of Bolo’s Printery was the hottest topic on the streets, with many speculations as to the cause of the fire.

This news site had broken the news of the fire in the wee hours of September 6, 2016.

During that time the phones of the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services were constantly being rung by the press for the investigative findings of the fire, which was jointly undertaken by the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Services’ investigative team and the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF).

Virgin Islands News Online has since noted that the rebuilding of the destroyed building on Waterfront Drive is now in progress and rang the Chief Fire Officer (CFO) for an update on the findings.

Mum’s the word?

However, the CFO, Mr Zebalon A. McLean is mum on what exactly happened when a loud explosion known as a "concussion blast" was heard, followed by flames which he earlier said “it’s obvious that the flames had been present for a while” at about 2 A.M.

“We cannot comment on the findings of the fire at this time,” he told this news site. When pressed as to the reason he had this to say: “I think that there were a couple of reasons but in my capacity, I cannot comment.”

The shoe store belongs to Mr Hazem M. Bazar, who has been operating as a businessman on the island for over 20 years.

Mr Bazar could not be reached for comment up to time of publication.

Explosions in a store full of clothes and shoes. Was hillary clinton involved or did the russians do it?

He should know by now what caused the fire. Either he don't know anything about fire investergations or something is being covered up.

Question. Is the insurance also have an investigator on the Matter? If there is no convulsive factual evidence of Fowl play let the insurance settle and move on? These insurance have millions and millions of our money. That's why we have insurance for these kind of unfortunate incidents

This is why people will think that they can destroy their property without being held accountable, because the Fire Department either don't investigate, or they keep results of their lame investigation a Big Secret. What a place.
