CARROT BAY, Tortola, VI- Farmers and shoppers converged at the Carrot Bay Festival Ground on Tortola on December 28, 2019 for the first ever Christmas Market organised by the Cultural Committee of Carrot Bay.

Persons came as far as from the eastern end of Tortola to get their share of fresh local produce, cooked foods and decorative plants.

On sale were ground provisions, tarts, guavaberry products, fish, whelks, conch, souse, mauby, coconut bread and dumb bread, just to name a few.

By popular demand

According to Antia Smith, one of the organisers, the market day was a response to a popular call by farmers and residents alike.

"When we held the Farmers Market back in August of this year we promised to have it as a regular feature. The farmers have since been on our backs asking when again and so we decided to hold one during this Christmas season."

Among the many seen at the day's event, which was held from 7:00am to 4:00pm, were Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly Honourable Neville A. Smith (AL) and Deputy Governor David D. Archer Jr.

There was a range of entertainment, including fungi music and plait pole dancing.

@Yeah, a well dressed and handsome man for sure. There is nothing like a well dressed and groomed man. Bet he smells great also. Guy’s, before you get dress, spray a little cologne over your bare back and the scent will last all day.

So much useless chatter about a man ill-dressed in a coat and tie in the hot tropical sun. What's the point? Exactly what was his message here?
More emphasis should be directed at the event and preparations for the next time. Fooie!!!!

What difference does it make what he was wearing. He came from a funeral, if you must know. El Sicko!!

The reason for his dress code was he attended a funeral. I don't know why his dress code is such an issue.

It hurts when I think that the world is reading the blogs of a few ignorant persons without any purpose or positive in their life. On top of that these people don’t even attend these meaningful functions or contribute anything positive to society. Newsites please do a better job of screening comments.

Any sensible right thinking person can see the man was dressed for another function. My only encouragement is that these fools are only but a few. Stop giving these pathetic fools their lil moment of attention

It was a great day by the way! Everything about this event was really good. Hope to see many more.
