ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Virgin Islander Norville S. Carey and the Rider University Bronco’s, snapped a losing streak with a strong all round performance, to beat the Marist Red Foxes, 84-66, on Saturday January 21, 2017, at Alumni Gymnasium.

All eight Broncs who dressed scored eight points or more as the Rider University men’s basketball team, the Broncs snapped a three-game losing skid and went 5-4 in Conference play. 

Five Broncs scored in double figures, led by Stevie Jordan and including Norville S. Carey (British Virgin Islands/Red Lion Christian [Southern Miss]). Carey added 8 rebounds and 3 assists to his night’s work.

The Broncs shot a season-high 50.9 percent from the floor and grabbed a season-high 54 rebounds.

“It’s just good to get off that losing streak that we had,” said Rider Head Coach Kevin Baggett. “It was a team effort from top-to-bottom, from the guys on the bench to the starters.”

For the game, the Broncs outshot the Red Foxes, 50.9 percent (27-53) to 36.2 percent (21-58) from the floor and 50.0 percent (8-16) to 21.2 percent (7-33) from long range. Marist took a 73.9 percent (17-23) to 68.8 percent (22-32) edge from the free-throw line. Rider outrebounded Marist, 54-23.
