ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - The British Virgin Islands Red Cross is encouraging persons to register for the Home Care Basics Training programme, which begins on March 3, 2020.

The deadline for registration is February 28. Applicants are asked to contact the BVI Red Cross office via telephone 494-6349 or email info@redcross.vg or programmes@redcross.vg.

The 12-week programme teaches skills for homecare and support of the elderly, and persons suffering from chronic or terminal illnesses.

Programme participants, once successful, will be certified to work at medical facilities, and in private homes through the Social Development Department’s Elderly Care Programme.

Director of BVI Red Cross Ms Stacy Lloyd said, “In addition to those persons who wish to establish careers in the medical field, it’s also a good course to take for the family members of ageing relatives.”

The Red Cross Movement is a volunteer-based international humanitarian organization. The BVI Red Cross was established in 1956.
