BVI Basketball Team arrived on St. Maarten for regional Tournament
The basketball games will run from July 15 to July 21, 2018.
BVI Ready!
The team named BVI Bayside Blazers is managed by Julian Willock and coached by Ronald Simmonds aka ‘Gola’. BVI Bayside Blazers is in for a packed schedule with game each night, starting tonight at 6:00 P.M., playing at the LB Scott Sports Auditorium in St. Maarten, against Holland.
While the BVI will play each night against other teams in the regional tournament, the big night will be Thursday July 19, 2018 when they come up against the USA team, as the competition is expected to be aggressive.
The team under the coaching guidance of Mr. Simmons with support from assistant Coach Trevor M. Stevens aka ‘West’ of Virgin Gorda, had their first practice this morning July 15, 2018 with the full team even though some of the players had relocated from the BVI following Hurricanes Irma and Maria.
Team captain Ray D. Victor speaking to our St. Maarten correspondence noted that his “team is ready and looking forward to bringing home another win for the Territory.” The games will also be streaming live on Facebook.
Come to the games-Willock
Manager of the Team Mr. Willock noted that Coach Simmons “have put a strong team together that is a combination of talent, experience and high basketball IQ, so I am not worried.”
He added, "residents who can make it to St. Maarten to support the team this week should do so to root for the hometown team, and fly the BVI flag."
