British Virgin Islands Law Firm, Thornton Smith, wins acquisition international M&A legal Awards 2012

Local law firm, Thornton Smith, wins acquisition international M&A legal awards 2012 for VI intellectual property law firm of the year.
ROAD TOWN, TORTOLA,VI– The British Virgin Islands-based law firm, Thornton Smith, is pleased to announce that it has been named and awarded BVI Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year 2012, which is awarded solely on merit, by Acquisition International Magazine, the leading global magazine for corporate finance news.

With a developing track record in communicating to directors and partners at financial advisory firms across the world and globally ranked law firms among others, it is clear that this award is a great achievement for the new start-up firm and to continue connecting the British Virgin Islands as a key player in the global corporate market.

Founder & Principal of THORNTON SMITH, Mr. Jamal S. Smith considers the award a first milestone considering the challenges faced by any firm to get recognized by industry standard publications such as Acquisition International Magazine but it is a rare opportunityfor a new start-up firm to obtain this level of recognition after only its first year of operations.

THORNTON SMITH, a full-service law firm in the British Virgin Islands has sought to expand its commercial practice from its strong intellectual property core to cater to clients from around the world involved in mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Smith is also the Chairman of the Latin America and Caribbean Committee for the INTA Bulletin, a leading industry publication published by the International Trademark Association.

The selection for this award is made by examining votes cast by subscribers of the magazine and its industry partners Prequin and Dealgate. After counting the votes received, reading supporting documents and further examining the achievements of the finalists throughout the course of 2011 and mid-2012, a winner is then selected and contacted.

However, the firm also attributes this award to the diligence and cooperation of the Registrar and staff at the Registry of Corporate Affairs in the British Virgin Islands. THORNTON SMITH continues to seek to exceed client expectations by enhancing public-private collaboration that has been the bedrock of the success of the financial services sector for over 30 years.
