KRUM BAY, St Thomas, USVI- — A man who police have yet to identify was found floating in the waters of Krum Bay, St Thomas, US Virgin Islands on Wednesday May 31, 2017, [US] Virgin Islands Police Department (VIPD) Media Specialist Sakeeda Freeman has announced.

According to Ms Freeman, at approximately 10:05 AM, Wednesday, a citizen sailing from Water Island to St Thomas observed an “object” floating in Krum Bay waters. The citizen informed 911 dispatchers that upon closer inspection, he realised that the floating object was actually a human body, Ms Freeman added.

Upon responding officers’ arrival to the area of Krum Bay, the same body was observed floating face down washing up against the shore. Police say the body could only be identified as nude and male, and the force is currently referring to the body as “John Doe” until further examination is conducted.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact the VIPD at (340) 774-2211, or Criminal Investigation Bureau (340) 714-9801. You may also contact the anonymous tips service, Crime Stoppers USVI.
