ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Social media was on fire with a luxury yacht named ‘Mark Vanterpool’ circulating on several platforms including Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and others.

While the origin of the photo and million dollar vessel is unknown, local Communications and Works Minister, Hon Mark H. Vanpterpool (R4) reacted to the social media photo by distancing himself from the 'joke'.

In a December 29, 2018, posting on his Facebook page, the man who oversaw a whopping $40 million overrun on the Ports Development Project noted, “You know, I’ve seen this photo circulating over the past couple of days and really thought it was a joke. This is a beautiful yacht. I’d love to have it, but truth is, it is not mine.”

Flipped-flop Vanterpool

Mr Vanterpool—a well connected businessman with vast property and land ownership—quoted Julius Caesar in Shakespeare, “O mischief, thou art afoot and men have lost their reason.”

The politician who flipped-flopped on his running for re-election in the 2019 poll, stated in the same Facebook posting that, “As a politician and a businessman, I continue to do my part to foster the development of this Territory and create opportunities for our people to thrive.”

@ citizen: it is not a crime if you don’t get caught: just a question for citizen; you want to be just like Mark whenever you grow up/ or you want to be a BVI politician just like Mark(because within 5 years some folks have secured financial stability: Involvement in BVI politics is far better than playing the stock market)....
