Bayside Blazers are 2016 K&J 3 on 3 Men's Open Division Champs
The Bayside Blazers ‘Super Team were inspired by the experienced Parillon who was a force to reckon with but it was the finishing heroics of Ryan R. Alfred who ensured his team to the Men’s Open title by scoring the final and all important bucket for the victory.
Alfred had earlier inspired his side to a win over the same team before the final clash.
But the Blazers Super Team had to overcome the subtle We Dem Boys and found the going a little easier with Ray D. Victor, who played alongside his brother Rowan in the same team, failing to click in time from beyond the 3-point arc.
The Bayside Blazers Super Team were Tavon J. Phillip, Steve E. Parillon (captain), Dione M. Blyden and Ryan R. Alfred. The winning Coach was Eustace ‘Boss’ Freeman.
Junior Blazers reach final in 16-18 Division C/ship
Just like the West Indies had taken two T20 titles on the same day, the Blazers camp seemed well on its way to achieving two championships on the same day but the Jr Bayside Blazers came up short in the final of the 16-18 Division. They were beaten by Who’s Next in the championship game.
The Junior Bayside Blazers players were Jamoi D. Dore, Stephon S. Caul, Lenroy N. Grant and Karvin N. Robin. The Coach was Vancito E. Pickering and Assistant Coach Kevon S. Lettsome.
All in all it was a fascinating display for the Bayside Blazers and their sponsors Mourant Ozannes BVI, North Sound Foundation Inc, Nerine Trust Company (BVI) Limited, Digicel (BVI) Ltd, Caribbean Insurers Ltd, Nagico, and Scotiabank (BVI).
Winners claim 40+ title
The 40 plus Men’s Division was actually full of energy and in the end it was Winners who prevailed in the final, edging Unity 12-11 in a hotly contested championship.
The Winners team included David D. Archer, Dwayne Thomas and Clyde W. Potter.
Other champions on the final day of the two-day tournament included Ballers 1 in the 9-12 Boys Bivision, Arrow Gang in the 13-15 Boys Division, and Blazers in the Open Female Division.
Just as last year, the winning teams collected handsome prizes that included Play Station 4, Beats headsets, laptops and gift vouchers.
The tournament, which ran from April 2-3, 2016, was organised by Kennedy H. Bass and Jason A. Edwin.
