GREENLAND, Tortola, VI – Kennedy Bass held his nerve when it mattered most to book his team Nuttin Nice a place in the East End/Long Look Christmas League final with a 73-70 victory over Long Look on Wednesday January 9, 2013.

Game one of the play offs had gone down to the buzzer and there was no less excitement for a packed crowd at the court on Greenland’s as the drama unfolded late in the 4th quarter.

With less than a minute to go, Long Look held a slender one point advantage only to see the duo of Jason Edwin and Bass, combine with a quick exchange of passes that let Bass drive into the paint and notch a two pointer for a 69-68 lead. David “Bolo” Lettsome then replied with two successful free throws to regain the lead for Long Look at 69-70.

Down to the last 38 seconds, Bass nailed another two for a 71-70 advantage before Long Look missed two free throws. To make matters worse for Long Look, Edwin picked up a defensive rebound, laid a perfect pass to Bass who nailed his two point effort to make it 73-70.

As the final seconds ticked away, Douron Phillip missed a 3-point attempt and “Nuttin Nice” celebrated a sweep of Long Look and a place in the final.

The 1st Quarter finished all square on 17 a piece and at half time the score was 37-36 to Long Look. They opened up a 5 point gap at the end of the 3rd at 56-51, but when it mattered most the game savvy of Edwin and Bass took “Nuttin Nice” over the line.

Bass finished with 26 points, 2 steals, 2 blocks and 4 assists, whilst Edwin had 17 points, 1 steal, 4 rebounds and 1 assist. Melvin Richards added 12 points, Melvin Christopher 10, 1 steal and 5 rebounds.

“Bolo” led Long Look with 27 points, 2 steals, 10 rebounds and 2 assists. Jevonne Demming had 16 points and Mackiel Pickering had 8 rebounds.

“Nuttin Nice” will have to wait to see who their opponents will be, although the so far unbeaten 49TH Street claimed the ascendancy in their best of three playoff against No Comment with a 65-53 win in game 1.

Nathaniel Malone was the driving force behind the victory with his double double of 16 points and 15 rebounds. He also added a steal to his nights work whilst Gavin Frett and Bradley Stevens scored 12. Devon Wattley also recorded a double double with 11 points and 15 rebounds.

For No Comment, Isaac top scored with 22 points and 7 rebounds whilst Tad added 17 points.

Game 2 is scheduled for Friday January 11, 2012 on the Greenland’s court at 8 P.M.

The 2012 East End/Long Look Christmas League, named after Lorenzo 'Black Boy' Jennings, who was considered the 'Pearl' of the Dreds basketball team, opened on Sunday, December 2 and could well draw to a close this weekend.

For your info, All teams were allowed to register eight players and those with the overseas players the option to add players after their players leave for school, also allowances were made for sickness, so tell the person who give you the wrong info to check their memory and stop bawling like damn little children and step up to the plate. And you need to learn to spell. GET YOUR FACTS RIGHT< THEN COMMENT. TWEET- TWEET TWEETY BIRD,
