ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Kenai Jacobs, who is accused of shooting a man in the chest on April 15, 2019 in Long Look, on the main island of Tortola, was refused bail when he made a court appearance recently.

Jacobs, 22, of Long Look, was arrested by police on April 16, 2019, less than 24 hours after the shooting, and charged with attempted murder.

The young man was also slapped with an additional charge of possession of a controlled drug as, according to reports reaching our newsroom, a quantity of cocaine was uncovered at his home in Long Look.

The victim was identified as Angus Penn, who allegedly told police Jacobs shot him at point blank range. He also said he was certain the shooter was Jacobs, who he is familiar with. Penn remains a patient at Peebles Hospital.

According to prosecutors, Jacobs told police during his interview that he was unwell at home with his grandmother and a young woman on the night of the shooting.

Jacobs was not required to plead to the charges.

Bail was refused and the defendant will return to court on May 22, 2019.
