ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Residents of Sea Cows Bay have been experiencing water shortages for the past three days and want to know why they are being made to suffer.

Speaking with this news site, Opposition member and Chairman of the Virgin Islands Party Honourable Julian Fraser RA (R3) said he spoke with an official from the Ministry of Communications and Works and was told that there were some water main breaks which were responsible for the lack of water in Sea Cows Bay.

“I can’t get the full story because where he told me the water line was broken had nothing to do with the plant in Sea Cows Bay getting water from the reservoir. The water line was broken in the Duffs Bottom area and people in Sea Cow’s Bay were complaining that they didn’t have water,” he said.

“It all goes back to one thing, not bringing the water from Sabbath Hill to the people,” he said.

Is the Third District being spited?

A resident of Sea Cows Bay, Claire Mills, said she believes the issue is political and with General Elections around the corner the Third District is being spited. “I don’t know what is going on. I asked my friends who live in other places and they are getting water,” she said.

“In Sea Cows Bay we only get water from 5:00pm and by 6:00pm it is gone. During last week we didn’t have water for three days, three whole days,” she said.

She noted that she made a comment on Honourable Vanterpool’s Facebook page regarding the problem and she stated that he responded to her explaining about the broken pipes. “I want to know why only Sea Cows Bay have to always have water problem when nobody else has water problems…and it is happening all the time. You come home and you can’t even take a shower because the water already gone,” she said.

“I don’t think it is any broken pipe. I think it’s personal. It is something that needs to be addressed,” she said. “Why can’t we get water three days a week at least right through?” she asked.

Efforts to reach Director of the Water and Sewerage Department Perline Scatliffe Leonard for a comment proved futile. We also tried to reach Minister Vanterpool for a comment but to no avail.

The man in the 3rd give you Biwater, and the wicked NDP government refuse to take the water an distribute it to the people. Biwater has a million gallons of water sitting there every day and even though government has to pay for it they refuse to take it and send it to the people. Wicked government. PREMIER SMITH, do something

If that is the case, every VIlander should be outrage knowing that if you dont' agree with a politician he/she may abuse their power. An investigation should be mounted and if its the case something needs to be done. Unjust people can't be expected to be treated justly.

If NDP wants to win the 3rd District they will turn off the people water and make them suffer to do so? That make any £$^"£$ sense?

They doing it because they KNOW the ONLY way they could win the 3rd is if they recruit Jesus Christ himself to run against Fraser.

It is the same in Virgin Gorda. They need to decide whether they want Aqua Design or ocean conversion.

What is happening here does not surprise me. The poor lad who is now running as an independent in the ninth district was threatened when he first indicated that he would run with the VIP. That funny tall man is wicked and evil. Every week he is up here in people's face promoting the NDP rather than doing the Government's work.

Was a report made from any of the districts about the shortage of water? (I heard one person mention East End didn't have water at one time) unfortunately the name hasn't been listed. (Neither for nor against)
