ST JOHN’S, Antigua – Two ex-cops accused of laundering over $5 million dollars are seeking bail – but they still face drug trafficking charges in connection to 35 kilos of cocaine found on the scene of a double murder.

The class A drugs – valued at more than $1.2 million – were discovered at a Cedar Valley house where the bodies of Dominican nationals Alwin Robin, 34, and Alex Riviere, 32, were found in October.

Arleigh Byer and Cosbert Sergeant appeared in St John’s Magistrates’ Court yesterday before Chief Magistrate Joanne Walsh, who adjourned the case to consider a bail application made by their attorney Steadroy “Cutie” Benjamin.

The adjudicator said she needed to review the file since the charges are not specific. The trial is however set for February 25.

The duo is jointly charged with nine counts of money laundering. They will remain in prison until they can come up with the $100,000 cash deposit of the $1.2 million bond.
