Another 'Thrushy' flies out: Hon Turnbull leaves NDP
Virgin Islands News Online has been reliably informed that Honourable Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) aka ‘Mitch,’ is the latest to tender his resignation from the NDP, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.
Hon Mitch Turnbull had served as the NDP’s Party Officer/Chaplain.
Hon Turnbull’s resignation comes literally hours after founder member of the party, Honourable Archibald C. Christian (AL) resigned from the party. He had served as Treasurer and was later fired from his post as Junior Minister for Tourism.
Only recently the party’s Vice President, Dr Michael A. Turnbull, also tendered his resignation.
The resignations of both Dr Turnbull’s and Hon Christian, came days after the NDP Executive Meeting heard that Ms Shaina M. Smith, who also served as Chairperson of the party’s Women’s Association, also tendered her resignation, with immediate effect.
The NDP has split and continues to suffer the loss of numerous stalwarts, ever since the recent election of Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL) as its new Chairman and Leader.
The members have since aligned themselves with Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton’s (AL) Virgin Islands Progressive Alliance (VIPA) wing.
