ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – The National Democratic Party (NDP) continues to disintegrate with another 'thrushy' flying the Coop.

Virgin Islands News Online has been reliably informed that Honourable Melvin M. Turnbull (R2) aka ‘Mitch,’ is the latest to tender his resignation from the NDP, on Wednesday, November 14, 2018.

Hon Mitch Turnbull had served as the NDP’s Party Officer/Chaplain.

Hon Turnbull’s resignation comes literally hours after founder member of the party, Honourable Archibald C. Christian (AL) resigned from the party. He had served as Treasurer and was later fired from his post as Junior Minister for Tourism.

Only recently the party’s Vice President, Dr Michael A. Turnbull, also tendered his resignation.

The resignations of both Dr Turnbull’s and Hon Christian, came days after the NDP Executive Meeting heard that Ms Shaina M. Smith, who also served as Chairperson of the party’s Women’s Association, also tendered her resignation, with immediate effect.

The NDP has split and continues to suffer the loss of numerous stalwarts, ever since the recent election of Honourable Myron V. Walwyn (AL) as its new Chairman and Leader.

The members have since aligned themselves with Honourable Ronnie W. Skelton’s (AL) Virgin Islands Progressive Alliance (VIPA) wing.

I will try my best to offer some free advice here. Now the Hon. Mitch Turbull was a member of the National Democratic Party. In the 2015 elections he offered himself as a candidate in the second District under the NDP Banner and won the second District seat. The NDP won the 2015 elections and formed the Government. Mitch sits with the government as a back bencher. He has now resigned as a member of the NDP but have not Tender his resignation as the representative of the 2nd district, therefore he is still the legally elected representative of the 2nd district. However seeing that he has resigned as a member of the NDP which is the governing party, he can no longer sit with them on the government side of the house. As he has stated he will sit on the opposition side of the house which is the proper think to do. Unlike Archie who is saying he had expected to still hold onto the Junior Tourism Minister portfolio and he can still sit on the government side of the house, he is politically and constitutionally incorrect, that cannot happen. Like Mitch he contested the elections under the NDP Banner, he won and was on the government side. He was made Junior Minister. He has since resigned as a member of the NDP but he is still an elected atlarge member of the house. Therefore seeing that he resigned the NDP which is the governing party, he cannot continue to sit with them on the government side neither can he continue to hold the Junior Minister portfolio. He have no other choice but to sit on the opposition side of the house. As Archibald is saying, he was elected by the people so he can continue to sit on the government side, Andrew and Frazer were also elected but the people but the cannot sit on the government side of the house except they decided to join with the Government.

@hmmmm, just wait until campaigning start, all the secrets will come. Listen for them trying to bring each other down. My instinct tells me that the audit reports into the million dollar wall and the millions of dollars Pier Park have a lot to do with it. Just wait for it

question: will Skeleton resign as well and risks loosing his current ministerial post or will Skeleton resign in show of Salidarty for his fall comrades: the junior minister never thought the doctor would have send him packing: poor chap really really loved that post(the doctor gave it and the doctor took it away)......
