@concerned, I call it shank factory. The inmates have so much free time on their hands. Of course they are coming up with ways to make different type of shanks. I watch lock up and you would be surprise at the things inmates come up with to make a shank.

The management has lost control of the prison, their is a need for the changing of the guard. The leaders has lost focus on what they are supposed to be doing. Let it was a local, you would see what would become of them.

Start by changing their eating utensils.
Plastic fork and knife. They only eat chicken and rice any way.
As for toothbrushes, remove the handles and let them manage the brush alone.
Cavity check when coming out of the carpentry room
Make a drastic change on anything that can be turn into a weapon

Foot cannot run the prison and the guards need to be replaced they all only there for a pay check and foot afraid of certain prisoners. The chief of police and his officers need to take over the prison and then you will see results.

Was this accused placed with the general population? If so, Why persons charged for murder is not placed in a wing/cell which is safe for them and the general population? Those accused/convicted should be separated from the others or is it that the prison soooo fullll that it is not possible. The authorities owes prisoners and guards a duty that is to protect them. Why are they failing?

They will only take measures when someone dies of a stab wound.
