Anegada Lobster Fest 2013 in living colours-Video Exclusive

Local photographer John F. Black has captured the exciting moments and scenery on video of one of the BVI Tourist Board's successful events for the year- Anegada Lobster Festival 2013. Image. John. F. Black
THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- Where do people go for the best lobster in the Caribbean? The Virgin Islands (VI) is still the place! Our beautiful archipelago is where globetrotters and international food lovers have discovered the most tasty, succulent catch of the sea: the Anegada spiny lobster!

The beautiful clear waters surrounding the island of Anegada are filled with these colourful crustaceans and the Virgin Islands welcomed the world on November 30 and December 1, 2013 to taste the coveted seafood of lobster.

While for the past two years the BVI Tourist Board has had its fair share of criticism for not doing this and that in moving the sector forward, one must give them credit for hitting the ball out of the park on the first annual Anegada Lobster Festival.

The two days [November 30- December 1, 2013] all around Anegada was the high point of the celebration of the VI fishing and seafood heritage and magnificent seafood industry.

The event, which was an eclectic mix of moving from restaurants to restaurants to both taste and purchase the sweet dishes of the Anegada lobster, was one of the best experiences for both locals and visitors alike.

What was interesting, and still many may be shy or ashamed to confess, is that for many locals and residents this was their very first trip to the flat island of Anegada.

Notwithstanding, the many persons were very entertained as they partied on the beach where Anegada restaurants and beach bars served additional plates of lobster, seafood and Caribbean inspired dishes. The party continued into the night with music and entertainment as the only thing missing was the moonlight.

Whether they came to the most Northern Island in the Virgin Islands’ archipelago for the 2013 Lobster Festival by ferries, airlines or charter yachts, the experience of the flamingoes that grace the shores, the enormous conch shell mound, the friendly rock iguanas, the Anegada stunning aqua blue beaches and more were the same for all.

Before you click on the video and see the skillful work of local photographer John F. Black, have a seat and read these words from poet Fitzisaac Maliya paraphrased and rewritten by this news site:

Anegada spiny lobster absolutely appetising
Anegada
spiny lobster absolutely tantalising
The way it makes your stomach jump at its mention
The way it melts on your tongue when you go to taste it
The way the mouth waters at its mention or sighting
The uncontrollable breathing for some impatient people
As the Lobster is prepared the intensity of its appeal
The race to the table to secure a seat at the many spots
The enjoyment as the Anegada
spiny lobster passes down the throat
With a nice cold drink to wash it down with
How quickly everyone disappears at the sight of empty dirty dishes
Sea Food absolutely appetising
Anegada
spiny lobster absolutely tantalizing!
