THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI - The Captain Auguste George Airport on Anegada has this morning Thursday, February 7, 2019, closed once again.

A source familiar with the situation told our new centre that the lone fire tender is under repair.  The same source said, “as soon as it is repaired the airport will be reopened.”

A few weeks ago after almost two years the runway lights at the Auguste George Airport were repaid and restored after they were destroyed by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.

New leadership needed?

The BVI Airports Authority has been rocked by many scandals over the last two years, with closed airports, lack of adequate fire trucks, planes crash landing and the issue of safety concerns on some of the three airports managed by the Authority.
