ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Alberto Rosa De La Rosa aka ‘Pi Yoyo’, an inmate of Her Majesty's Prison, was taken to Peebles Hospital earlier today, May 26, 2015 after he was reportedly stabbed by a fellow inmate in the prison compound at Balsum Ghut.

Virgin Islands News Online's reliable sources have reported that De La Rosa was stabbed by an inmate who is currently serving life imprisonment for murder.

According to a press release from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), "Police are investigating an incident reported this morning where an inmate at HM Prison received stab wounds while on the prison compound. The inmate is presently being treated at Peebles Hospital."

The press release stated that the man's wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

Alberto Rosa De La Rosa was ordered extradited from the USA following due procedures followed after representations made by the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) as he was wanted in connection with unlawfully causing the death of Riky Bautista Familia aka Macoticea on Friday November 16, 2012. He is currently on remand awaiting trial.

Who is in charge of this institution? Every time I see an incident at Her Majesty's Prison I have to ponder that very question. The institution is supposed to hold those we find guilty for whatever, they're to be protected because they're still human with rights and they keep doing the same old thing that is failing. One man a convict the other an accused why are they housed in the same areas. Wait do we have the murderers housed with guys who is in for not paying child support? Our islands are small but the people are visionaries so please tell me why these sort of things continue unabated. Both men should be protected.
