ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Today, Alberto Rosa De La Rosa was returned to Tortola and charged with the manslaughter of Riky Bautista Familia which occurred on the 16th November 2012. He will appear in before the Magistrate on Friday 11th July.

Rosa De La Rosa was arrested in New York on Thursday 20th March 2014 as a result of intelligence gathered by the RVIPF Major Crime Team. As a result of this investigation, a provisional arrest warrant was obtained allowing for his arrest in New York by the US Marshals Service. On the 11th June he appeared before a court in New York and waived his right to contest extradition.

This week Major Crime Detectives travelled to New York and escorted Rosa De La Rosa back to the BVI.

The Commissioner of Police David Morris said ‘We are pleased that Alberto Rosa De La Rosa has been brought back to the BVI to stand trial. Whilst I am unable to comment further upon these ongoing proceedings, I would like to thank members of the Spanish speaking community for their assistance with the investigation. Their liaison with my Spanish speaking officers was an important factor in Rosa De La Rosa’s capture and we are grateful for the trust and confidence demonstrated by the many people who came forward with information’.

What a heartless idiot. Nothing on this earth is more precious than life and for someone to take anothers life because they are full of hate is inhumane. I wish the same fate for De La Rosa that he put on this poor young man. An eye for an eye.
