ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The BVI Health Services Authority (BVIHSA), the statutory body that runs all public health services, is facing many financial challenges among other issues.

It was two weeks ago that the security services, now managed by the BVIHSA, were dragged into a meeting where they were reportedly told by Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Paula G. Chester-Cumberbatch that their jobs will be made redundant and they have six months to seek new employment.

They were also told that security services will be privatised and they can also reapply with the new company.

It is unclear if there will be a transparent process for the new company to take over security services at the government owned medical facility.

It is expected, according to reports from sources within the BVI Health Services Authority, that the move to privatise the security at the Authority is to be made around August/September of this year.

Would CEO be out!?

Meanwhile, it is also our newsroom’s understanding that the CEO, Ms Chester-Cumberbatch’s contract will not be renewed, as some in the Ministry of Health and Social Development are allegedly not happy with her performance.

Ms Chester-Cumberbatch did not respond to our request for information up to time of publication.

Our newsroom will be the first to bring confirmation on this to our readers, from senior sources within the ruling National Democratic Party.

Sadly I have to agree with you. John Cline and the former CEO were not perfect but that had more common sense than the new CEO and chair woman. Management likes blaming staff but I think its high time they take a look at their own actions.

They are lucky they were given 6 months because some people didn't get any time and we're just told to go home. Our country is at an all time low, and because of all the stealing, we have no money now to keep people in their jobs. This can't possibly get any worse.

True, but he has better management skills, and did a good job of talking to the employees. This article talks about a transparent process. Nothing is transparent at the BVIHSA since he left.

Your comment surely lack common sense rational reasoning. Ask yourself the question what does the Premier knows about running a country? Last time u checked is field of study was medicine but he ran on the NAP ticket and was voted to run the country. He might not be the best leader but common sense dictates that he uses advisors who can guide some of his decision making policies. So even though Clone might not be a health practitioner doesn't mean that he can't manage the Hospital with the right advisors around him. Now I am not advocating for his return, just merely using his situation and that of the Premier as an example.

John Cline is a very courageous and wise man.. He could have done alot more for the profession and the professionals. He had the clout. He could have made sure that people in the profession for over ten years be given residence status.. Just imaging serving in the profession as and xpat and after 15, 20, plus years in the service the professionals still have to join the immigration line for a stamp.. Unbelievable..

Courageous? You can be courageous when on one hand you are the one approving contracts for supplies and equipment and on the other hand you are the beneficiary of said contracts for computers, equipments, tv, lights etc. Tell me how that does work again?

The bishop is now getting the praise but show us what he has done. All forget Carty. She was the person who got quite a bit done. Others who did very little took the praise and treated her as if she did not work. She was pushed out for this one. Seemingly we do not know what we want starting with the politician and others.

And this place needed to clean house and start over.
(Could be ) ( but can't be) A professional Facility until they clean house.
Hospitals should be ran with dignity and respect for others around you and caring about your patients not just a paycheck
For you,and your family and friends.
Hospitals need integrity and professionals that know how to run a Hospital.
