DUFF’S BOTTOM, Tortola, VI - Organisers of the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed National Basketball League have announced that the 2017 League will begin on Saturday August 19, 2017 at the Save the Seed Energy Centre in Duff’s Bottom, where all games will be played.

According to a press release from the league, registration application for both the Junior and Senior Leagues will be available from June 7, 2017. Team Captains, Coaches and Managers can obtain rosters from the Chair of the League Committee Mrs Kharid T. Fraser by calling 546-2637 or the Commissioner of the League Mr Derrick R. Varlack at 340-3790.

In the coming days, the rosters will also be available on the League’s Facebook page for downloads.

This year, the cost of registration for senior teams is $200.00 and junior teams $100.00. There has been a new junior league age category, with a 9 – 12 and a 13- 16 age groups. Registration fees must accompany the rosters to be considered registered.

Rings & more Rings

At the 2017 season opening ceremony on August 19, the 2016 Championship Team 'Splash Brothers' will receive their rings and a plaque will be unveiled to honour the junior team champions from 2013 to 2016.

The deadline for roster registration is July 7, 2017 and the League will have a final roster rule for two weeks after August 19, 2017, after which no other changes will be allowed. This year, in celebration of the Hon. Julian Fraser Save the Seed fifth anniversary, the championship team will be given gold rings.

There will also be several activities leading up to the August 19, 2017 start date including the announcement of the Draft Pick date and the names of basketball Elite players participating in the draft.

An official press conference launch of the league will be held, as well as, a public meeting with all Coaches, Captains and Managers of teams to go over amendments to the rules and to elect a player representative for the Committee. The public is asked to stay tuned.

About the Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League

The Hon Julian Fraser Save the Seed Basketball League was founded in 2013 by Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA, and founder of the Save the Seed Energy Centre Bishop John I. Cline.

The Basketball League is governed by the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) rules, endorsed by the BVI Basketball Federation and has its own by-laws and governing Committee.
