ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- A gentle reminder that we live in an earthquake-prone environment was given last evening, June 22, 2020, when at approximately 10:43 PM, the Puerto Rico Seismic Network, recorded an earthquake measuring a magnitude of 3.37.

According to the Department of Disaster Management (DDM), the epicenter was located at latitude 18.67 North, 64.86 West at 24.35 miles North Northwest of Road Town at a depth of 4.3 miles.

No Watches, Advisories or Warnings were issued for this event.

“The Department of Disaster Management (DDM) takes this time to remind the BVI community that we live in a seismically active zone, which makes the Territory vulnerable to earthquakes.”

It said during an earthquake it is important to stay calm, “if you are inside stay there, move away from ceiling fans, glass windows and doors or anything that may fall. Get under a desk or sturdy piece of furniture cover your head and hold on. If outdoors, move into an open area away from trees, building, or utility wires and poles.”

During an earthquake, according to DDM, the more you move the more likely you are to be hurt, so refrain from entering or exiting a building at the time of the impact.

The earth is the Lord and the fullness there of the world and they that dwell there in. Why all these hates? God is the creator of us all, God is no respector of person. We march the other day talking about black lives matters and before the march ends, hate takes over our hearts.
