TRELLIS BAY, BEEF ISLAND, VI – The 2018 Painkiller Cup Race will take place in the [British] Virgin Islands on Saturday, January 20, 2018 with the support of interCaribbean Airways which is signed up as the official event airline.

The third annual Stand Up Paddle boarding (SUP) event offers two different categories.

The 2018 Painkiller Cup race is a downwind run from Trellis Bay to Sandy Cay and is open to any team comprising three racers, at least one of which must be female. Free interCaribbean Airways tickets, and prizes will be given to the top 5 teams.

Registration for the Painkiller Cup takes place at the HIHO Shop, Trellis Bay from 8:00 – 9:00 A.M. on Saturday January 20, 2018. There will be a 9:00 A.M. Racers’ Meeting with a 10:00 A.M start time.

The Mini-Painkiller, a 3-mile race, is a solo event and open to any SUP racer on any board 14' or shorter. The race will start at Sandy Cay following a beach clean up and end at White Bay on Jost Van Dyke. The winner will also be awarded a free interCaribbean Airways ticket.

Racers and supporters are asked to donate some time to clean the trail that winds across Sandy Cay. The island is a VI national park and assisting in the post-storm clean-up of the trail would be a great community service. Organisers will supply tools needed for the cleanup.

Trevor Sadler, CEO of interCaribbean, encourages the public to be part of the event. “Whether you're racing, supporting or just ready for a good time, join in the fun! Watch the teams set off from Trellis Bay or catch a ride and meet us at Sandy Cay for the beach clean-up and the start of the Mini-Painkiller race or just make your way to White Bay for the after party and prize giving at Hendo’s. We look forward to seeing you there!”.
