After pressure from this news site, ranks of the the RVIPF, especially those who were directly being investigated, residents territory-wide, and civil society who have wide reaching mistrust of David Morris (right), he surrendered to good governance and agreed to a truly independent investigation. ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Shortly after the controversial Commissioner of Police Mr David Morris was dropped as one of the persons on the team investigating alleged corruption in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF), one of the accused cops has been re-instated.

Five were previously made to turn their badges in as a UK team was brought in to investigate alleged corruption; however, many of the officers in the force had protested in silence and via this news site of Mr Morris’ being part of the investigation by having the UK team report to him.

The team was also reporting to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DDP); however, this news site was reliably informed that a decision was later taken to have Mr Morris removed as one of the persons to which the committee reported and Commissioner of the Royal Cayman Islands Police Service David Baines was placed at the helm of the investigating body.

The investigation has been named ‘Operation Lucan’ and is primarily focused on investigating cops who were allegedly involved in stealing money seized from criminals and playing a part in high profile drug running. This is according to Virgin Islands News Online’s sources within the RVIPF.

The recent development of the police officer being returned to active duty following his name being cleared from the list of alleged corrupt cops was confirmed also by RVIPF Public Relations Officer Ms Diane Drayton who told this news site yesterday March 3, 2015, “As a result of a decision made by the Director of Public Prosecutions, one of the officers in relation to Operation Lucan corruption allegation probe has been reinstated to full police duties. The investigation is ongoing and therefore we will make no further comment.”

The investigating of the other four officers continues and they remain off the job pending the full outcome of Operation Lucan.

Lets create an illusion for the bigger picture. Interdict cop in story - Part 1. Clear him later of all allegations of corruptions Part 2. Of course, they all knew he was never involved in any acts of corruption in the first place. The others will be meted with the same justice as now free cop Part 3. Summarized it all PTB it was 'merely allegations of corruption' and life goes on....wow! Awaiting with bated breath the findings of this independent probe.

Hello Everyone, I clearly see the ones for and the ones against, but we should all keep an open mind. There is that one key word, “allegation” and any person can make them against another. However, it is only when tested that the fact to truth or falsehood is then revealed.
Only the person(s) against whom the offense(s) were committed can report same and they will have to present facts to support.
Some say the street knows what happened. Again any person can allege anything.
What concerns me is this. This is the first I’m hearing allegations of this magnitude against members of the RVIPF. But when I look at the group I’m trouble because in my opinion these guys have barely cleared their probationary period and are privileged to what is alleged. When I ask the question, where are the senior guys? I’m told they were all transferred from that unit.
Now, we can read into it and ask, is this group the pet project of a particular member or members of the police senior management team or where did they go wrong? Again, I’m only alleging.
Remember, keep an open mind. Blessings.
    SIL
