ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Speaking on Tuesday, July 31, 2018, on the radio show Honestly Speaking, with host Claude O. Skelton-Cline, local Attorney-at-Law, Jamal S. Smith, was the guest.

He told the listening public, when the National Democratic Party (NDP) first started, he was a member, in fact a “card carrying member of the NDP.”

The young Attorney recalled how hopeful he was, about the formation and principles that were set out in the then NDP’s manifesto and his commitment to assisting in any way that he could.

We miss Paul P. Whatley

He said, on the radio show, the NDP, “have (since) lost their way” and it was clear to him—especially, after the untimely death of the Late, Paul P. Whatley, who had emerged as the ‘no-nonsense member in the team that shoots straight and kept everyone in check.’

In other words, once Mr Whatley died, the NDP went astray, according to Mr Smith.

The Attorney—while on the show—did not state the party that he will support in the next General Elections.

Honestly Speaking is aired each Tuesday from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM and is carried on ZBVI 780 AM.

It is also carried Live on the Honesty Speaking Facebook page.

The only way for you is to run in the 3rd district my friend. Your position awaits you in the VIP. Don’t let all this energy go to waste. Think “key”

Indeed, the NDP has lost its way and strayed far from its birth, humble beginning and great hope and promise. However, the question is what caused it to stray and go off course? Was it power, greed, status, influence, unchecked opportunity, ineffective opposition.........etc? That question answered what are Virgin Islanders going to do to address the problem? Is gross under performance going to be rewarded? Will insanity prevail d, ie, doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result? The territory is in crisis and a Noel, a Mandela, a Moses, a Joseph, a Eugenia, a Lavity ......etc is needed to lead it out of crisis. Patriots, it is time to come forward.

Everybody has an opinion and can criticize. Hey that's your inalienable right but we want to hear solutions Mr Smith. The voters will not replace bad with horrible. And knowing your legal track record as an attorney you should be one of the last persons to speak about "lost their way".
