My presidency will not be measured in applause- Zoe J. Walcott
In her remarks, President Walcott said her presidency will not be measured in applause but in access.
“True leadership does not elevate one, it elevates many. And so tonight, I do not stand before you alone. I stand with a team, with a community, and with a calling. We will serve with unity, lead with compassion, and leave behind a legacy that declares clearly, courageously, and unapologetically: Nobles Were Birthed Here.”
She thanked the other board members to answering the call to serve, calling them the “architects of execution” as they will be the ones to bring the vision of the Rotary Club of Central Tortola to life.
“I am humbled and inspired by your commitment. Now, as we press forward, we do so together, because more hands make for lighter work. We are reminded that our community agenda cannot be carried by one club alone…We will pool our talents, coordinate our calendars, and combine our voices to serve more strategically, more sustainably, and more powerfully.”
Several programmes to be launched
President Walcott said the club will launch its solar-powered, containerised hydroponics programme, which is a bold step in environmental innovation, food security, and youth empowerment.
“This project is not just about farming. It’s about creating a living classroom where sustainability becomes a lifestyle and green solutions are grown from the ground up.”
The Investment Programme, an initiative aimed at demystifying wealth-building and promoting both micro and macro investment as tools for economic resilience, will also be launched.
“This is about changing the narrative: legacy building,” she explained.
The Rotary Club of Central Tortola will also expand efforts like the James Harris Accounts Scholarship, which it launched just a few months ago..
While this new board plans to launch new programmes, it will also sustain and strengthen existing projects such as the mangrove restoration, the Brewer's Bay clean-up, and the coconut tree planting initiative.
“Just as we plant seeds of financial growth, we will continue to nurture the seeds of environmental stewardship…we understand that real sustainability is not a moment. It’s a movement.”
Bringing the VI to the World
The new Rotary Club of Central Tortola President also said that through the new board, the Rotary International relationships will be tapped into more intentionally.
“With over a million members worldwide, we are part of a global movement, and we will work to unlock the full potential of those connections. We will bring the world to the BVI and BVI to the world, in alignment with Rotary International’s 2025 theme, ‘Unite for Good’.”
Walcott said they will recommit to the power of collective impact as they are reminded that real transformation begins when people come together not for power, but for purpose.
“That is the spirit we carry forward. That will be the heart of my presidency.”
