ZION HILL, Tortola, VI- The Government of the Virgin Islands is continuing its upgrade of its water distribution network as it works to ensure residents across the territory have access to a reliable supply of potable water.

The Zion Hill reservoir is the latest and final reservoir restoration project to be constructed.

The Ministry of Transportation, Works and Utilities in collaboration with the Recovery and Development Agency (RDA) is also working to re-establish reservoirs at specific locations on Tortola.

According to a press release from Government Information Services (GIS) on June 25, 2021, works are anticipated to start next week June 28, 2021, on the Zion Hill reservoir with the dismantling of the existing structure. When complete, the new reservoir is expected to have a larger water storage capacity and will be more resilient to natural disasters.

Water disruption possible

The Water and Sewerage Department has made arrangements to tap into other water sources to meet the residents demands during the restoration stage, according to the press release.

Residents are notified that despite these efforts, there may be water interruptions experienced from Towers to Belmont during this period. Persons are asked to stay tuned to media outlets and social media, in particular the Government’s and RDA’s Facebook and Instagram pages and websites for any water disruption advisories.

Towers and tithe West has had little waterservicefor as long as I can remember and it's Rep has been the same individual that I can remember. The Pockwoid Pond debacle with its poisoned air and the concentration of cancer and cancer related deaths in that area continues to be the norm. Rehab of the reservoir has been always the excuse along as I can remember.

This is a response from a person, presumably Caucasian, on the red, white and blue site.

Floyd needs to rot in hell and Chauvin should be set free. Floyd was a no good criminal, thief, drug user and seller. A perfect piece of scum. Floyd is not a hero and any Black that looks up to him is a moron. Chauvin did his job. Floyd OD’d on drugs but Chauvin was used to quiet the black man riots. You want to be treated equal then stop commuting all the shootings and crimes. The day of reckoning is coming for the black man. Blackman remember this. You are 17% of the US population.
