ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- On Friday, August 15, 2025, a diverse gathering of youth groups, community organisations, parents, guardians, and residents of the Virgin Islands (VI) will converge at the Road Town Police Station for the launch and youth rally of the Virgin Islands Anti-Crime Summit.

This summit, set to take place from September 24-26, 2025, represents a proactive initiative by the Government of the Virgin Islands to combat the growing concerns of criminality within the territory.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), emphasised the importance of this summit as a unifying event for the Virgin Islands community.

He stated that it will provide a vital platform for residents to collectively stand against the encroaching threat of crime that seeks to undermine the fabric of their society.

The summit will bring together key stakeholders, including the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Immigration and Customs officials, representatives from the Ministry of Social Development and Ministry of Education, and various private sector organisations.

The rally will kick off with a march from the Road Town Police Station at 6:30 PM, leading to the Huntum’s Ghut Basketball Court, where the official launch ceremony is scheduled to begin at 7:00 PM.

'Inspiring anti-crime testimonies'

According to an official bulletin from the Government of the Virgin Islands, the youth rally and launch will feature a variety of engaging activities. Participants can look forward to inspiring anti-crime testimonies from community members, performances, and opportunities to win prizes.

Additionally, a thrilling three-point shootout will take place, pairing young people with members of the National Sports Commission (NSC) and elected representatives from the House of Assembly.

This event serves as a crucial precursor to the upcoming national dialogue concerning violence and crime in the territory, which will be further explored during the Virgin Islands Anti-Crime Summit.

This summit, the brainchild of Premier Dr the Honourable Natalio D. Wheatley (R7), will follow the theme “Our Virgin Islands: Safe Communities, Prosperous Territory,” aiming to foster community engagement and proactive measures toward enhancing safety and security for all residents.
